  1. His legacy would look a lot better if his last second goal to make it 2-2 in the gold medal game resulted in a USA win. I would argue that a gold showing in 2010 would make him a hall of fame candidate.

  2. I have a lot of respect for Zach Parise. He has always been one of my favorite American-born Hockey players and I believe that he is a lock to get inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. I wouldn't be surprised if his number is retired by the Devils cuz he's one of the names that first comes to mind when you think of great Devils players over the years. Good luck to him in retirement. I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a coach down the line too.

  3. Parise had a good career so it sucks that the first thing you think of is injuries and his contract. I remember him in the Olympics and his last season in New Jersey as the highlights. As a wild fan I don't know if there is much memorable stuff from his time with us. He was a hustle player and great two way player but he was not the elite offensive guy that we needed him to be.

  4. Parise to me is like, a prototypical "hall of very good" kind of player, he had notoriety around the league during his peak for his skills, over 400 goals, over 400 assists, over 1000 games with lots of longevity and a reasonably decent playoff resume even without that cup. Best of luck in the future Zach!

  5. My favorite player growing up. Being a Minnesota fan I loved his grit character. I was at the game vs the Blackhawks when Parises Father JP passed away and they had a memorial for him. I hope he comes back for one honestly so he can get his cup

  6. Thanks Shannon. Always enjoyed watching him play. Hated him cuz he always made my teams pay. Lol. Are you still considering doing a Silfverberg video

  7. I dont know if you did a career video on his Dad but he also had a terrific carrer . Played in 72 summitt series got thrown out of last game, and as a ranger fan and im old scored a goal in ot to eliminate rangers . That goal put islanders on the map.

  8. When the devils played the kings in the cup finals in 2012 it was the first time in the history of the NHL where the captain of both teams were Americans. Praise for the Devils and Dustin Brown for the Kings

  9. I hated that Zach got away from NJ, but it was understandable, and I think a lot of fans respected that he wanted to help legitimize his hometown team. He had a grit to his game that was bigger than his size, and it probably cost him a good number of games, but I really enjoyed watching him.

  10. Argument could be made that he was the best offensive player in Devils history up until their current crop. 45 goals in 08 could be looked at as 60 today. Easily a top 10 player in the league during those years and its a bummer he never got a Cup in NJ. He had some really good seasons after leaving but I dont think he ever lived up to that contract with the Wild. Injuries played a major role and honestly I'm shocked he had played as long as he has.

I think he definitely would've gotten 500 goals if he stayed healthy throughout his career.

  11. 13 year contracts that changed the CBA, and Bettman made sure to put a poison pill in there for Minnesota.

  12. Zach was a COMPLETE coward and POS IMO. He talked about wanting to win and then bolted NJ when they were in the Staney Cup Finals. I will never discredit a player for wanting to go home, but Parise was not forthright with the Devils. Especially considering he was the team, Captain. He should have been a real man and said he wanted to go home. Instead, he went to Minnesota and never Sniffed another Stanley Cup opportunity. Good player, but he was way overpaid and i am glad he never won a Cup.

  13. Zach Parise has such a good career but his accomplishments kind of make very high mid career.. nothing memorable after that 2011-12 season.. As a Devils fan, sometimes I wish he stayed but I understand why he didnt..

  14. If he was drafted in 2003 wouldn't his earliest possible rookie year be 2003-2004 not 2002-2003? He wouldn't have been there in time for their cup anyway 😅

  15. That's a very good career. Doesn't get much attention having played for the Devils and Wild for such a long stretch.

  16. Parise should have been an Islander for life. His father loved playing there. Unfortunately, at the time, the GM situation was God awful.

  17. I know he played longer in Minnesota and it's been over 10 years since he played in NJ, but when I think of Parise, I think of him as a devil

  18. I would guess there's a 0% chance he gets his number retired by an NHL team. Devils fans are split on him, but he didn't spend nearly enough time there or achieve enough with them to even be considered. And he never lived up to his contract with the Wild obviously.
