Unless the Gm does a major overhaul of the current roster,Berube wonāt make much of a difference. They need a good to great goaltender, better defense, they need to get bigger, they need to be harder to play against.Hiring Berube better be the first of many steps or itās just another wasted season.
The answer to the Leafs problem lies with the owners. If they are seriously worried about the bottom line, owned by an Entertainment Company with its profit only motive then we will have another 57 years. The only thing that can save the Leafs is if a one man wealthy owner comes along who doesnāt care about the bottom line and brings in the talent to build a team built to win the playoffs.
Fellows, fellows … Berube is not necessarily the answer, nor is firing Shanahan. You guys talk as if you have all the answers … and you don't. The players folks want don't grow on trees. Sure we could have not signed Nylander a while back and made other moves here or there and maybe they'd help and maybe we'd have just missed the playoffs and get canned for that. Pelley is wrong, ALL teams are in the business of making money: bums in the seats, merchandise and expenses largely corralled by the cap. You cannot build a proper team if just when its decent you have to trade/not sign some of your best players for nearly a bag of pucks. Sorry, but while this team is perhaps not the best managed, however that can be assessed, BUT ALL of you were around in the 1980s when this team was truly 'horribly' managed by a cantankerous SOB who clearly didn't care about winning only making money, which he made plenty. The idiot fans still came I was one of them. Greys were just $4 then. NOTHING material will change here except, by luck or if folks stop going and/or watching at home, because the golden goose would be truly threatened. Brian Burke had all the answers, or Ken Dryden or Pat Quinn or … for 3 generations!!! The Leafs were one of the worst prepared teams for the salary cap. It's taken them a long time just to fix that and their scouting. I expect an analytical guy like Dubas to have built that side as well. Anyhow, I've been listening to some of you since the 1970s and you DON'T have answers anymore than the folks who were hired. Just sayin'
Thanx boys for being honest. Youse all witnessed at least a half dozen or more cups in Toronto. Iāve only been alive for 4. 25 coaches since 1967, 41 coaches in total and 13 cups since 1918. Thatās 107 years, or averaged at one in eight years. Does any fan think one Stanley Cup will appear outta the blue with just another coaching change ? Sad to say, I wonāt be witness to another, let alone into the second round.
C'mon, fellas. If anyone doesn't perform, Berube will beat them up and make them accountable. At least that's what I got from the majority of the Leafs' media. Coaching 101: threaten to beat up your players if they don't perform.
Seriously, though. Analytics say that you have a better chance of winning a Stanley Cup with a rookie coach than one the has won a Stanley Cup. It's a historical fact.
It's incumbent on all Toronto media outlets to LOUDLY announce our desire to acquire the services of Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid, by outbidding all offers once they become available. The coach has little to do with it. The Toronto fan base deserve superstar players that actually want to win a Stanley cup, are willing to sacrifice their body/health to accomplish this..unlike the current overpaid "regular season dynamos" that wimp out come playoffs, claiming headaches, or a runny nose..give me a break..the reason Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr, Howe, LaFleur, Bossy, Crosby are revered as the greatest players of all time is because of PLAYOFF success, not regular season, sadly the current lot of overpaid Leafs will inevitably be forgotten like all the other guys that never one a cup if they don't produce, and succeed in the playoffs.. Bowmanville Dave
well that was a lot of "get off my lawn" and "back in my day" …..that was a terrible snippet of what was probably a much better podcast than that clip would lead you to believe
Boy's, if they won't wave not much they can do. So I'm guessing they will grab a goalie, hopefully another we'll skating Dman. And get through this year. Their a 100 point team so they will make playoffs. Woll has huge potential so he will be number 1either this year or next. Once marner gets a dose of berube he be wanting out. He either plays like a man or he will sit him. That was Sheldon's issue he was scared to sit the four guys when he should have. That's over I believe. And I got Edmonton winning the Stanley cup. Peace āļø š

The Leafs still need a no. 1 defenseman

Great panel!
Perkins was bang on. Sick of everyone blaming Marner.

The problem with the leafs is the team plays with no urgency or passion. Thatās gonna change under Berube
Dave Hodge is the least grumpy of the grandpas today!
Berube is saddled with a roster that isn't a fit.
Perk's right. Nothing will change.

Marner and Mathews are the worst performing āstarsā over the last 7 years in playoffs. Something big has to change on the ice.

Dave Hodge looks the same Bob Mac looks like heās getting a lot older.
The Leafs not talented enough to win. They fall in love with their players and think they know all. Howās that working out so far?
This team won't win anything until they get rid of little Mitchy Marner. He and his empty calorie points are worthless when it matters.
well that was a lot of "get off my lawn" and "back in my day" …..that was a terrible snippet of what was probably a much better podcast than that clip would lead you to believe
GET OFF MY LAWN !!!… "I agree!"… LOL!
Leafs are still +1000.

How will Marner , Nylander, & Brodie last under Berube?
As long as Leaf fans keep filling seats, nothing will change
Why are Bob and the gentleman on the bottom left so negative, itās hard to listen to, but Dave Hodge talks sense instead of grumbles
