Would you rather be a Hall of Famer with 0 Cups or a 4th liner with 3 Cups?

Easy, 4th liner with 3 cups. I hope I had at least a part in a victory along the way.

I’d rather be injured on the bench and win a cup knowing I contributed in the regular / post-season than play an entire career and never hoist.

Is the money the same? If so, 4th liner. If not, HoFer

I’d rather be a water boy on a cup winning team than a hall of famer. At the end of the day, no matter how rich the hall of famer, he’s still thinking about what he doesn’t have.

  5. HOF for sure. Means you have a long career and much $$$ in the bank. A 4th liner with 3 cups could be out of the NHL in 4 years

    3 cups all day…
Your going to get paid ok for a forth as well. With 3 cups.

  7. Hall of famer probably made a lot more money over their career.

Fuck just leave Jumbo out of it. That hurts my heart.

4th liner with 3 cups would probably keep you employed for a decent amount of time in the NHL, just look at Maroon. The dude is 36 and still getting signed.

Would you rather win or lose? Ummm. I take win. People who say HOF want the money and fame. I’ll bet he’d trade it for cups. Most pro athletes want to win more than anything!

It’s a job… I’d rather retire after making $80-100mm in my career vs ~$10mm with three rings

4th liners are still millionaires. I bet Joe would trade the majority of his earnings for one Stanley cup let alone three.

I’d rather make $8M a year for 15 years on the shittiest team imaginable than win a cup with 7 minutes of ice time and a $2M salary for 5 or 6 years

Love Patty. He absolutely contributed to the Bolts’ cups and deserves them. I don’t give a shit what line he was on.

  15. MollyWhapped

Everyone says 4th liner with 3 cups until they see the HOFer’s bank account 🤑

  16. Hmm one made $100M in his career and the other gets paid in hot dogs. Yeah lemme think about that.

If I’m a hall of famer who’s gonna get my jersey retired and be beloved by a whole city than I’ll do that. If I’m just gonna be a great player who hopped around teams than I’ll gladly hoist that cup 3 times with almost no effort required.

  18. Who’s still going to be talking about the 4th liner once they retire? Who has a chance at being a coach, a commentator, or something more notable AFTER hockey? It sucks not getting a Cup or Cups, but most NHL players don’t. But to be famous for being as great a player as Jumbo or Henrik Lundquist is and not winning one, that’s almost more rare. Plus, he could win one as a coach. I guess it’s a tough call, but as someone who’s not in either position, I’d be happy with either one.

You know how many fights and missing teeth come from being a cup winning 4th line? Much less 3 ?? Fuck that give me the HOF and less CTE please 🙏

  20. Zestyclose-Repair-86

of course hall of famer. you gotta take salary into account

  21. No_Mongoose_1456

Everyone will say cups until they see $100 million in their bank account. Then it would change real quick

  22. Accomplished-One7476

am I the only 1 that reads the .com as .cum on the boards

now you all will see it….muahahhahahah

Easy choice to take the tens of millions with a nice retirement over putting your body on the line for a few million over a few years.

A lot of great players miss out on the cup and it’s not as big a deal as some fans make it.
