As a Lions fan it was average. But to be fair they didn't play him to his strengths and played him out of position most of the time. He should do better this year.
I'm looking forward to year two with the defensive improvements.
Branch next, Please and thanks 🙏🏼
I mean he had almost 100 tackles splitting reps the entire season I think he’ll be alright….
I think what's important is he got more and more time towards the end of the season and got better. He'll be good next season.
Jack will be great this year. he is the green dot of this defense and I've only seen Luke Kuechly be elite at it from day 1.
That Purdy run was more on Anzalone than Campbell
He played edge often last year? Not sure why?
He was played out of position. They played him at F*cking Edge. Imagine him actually at LB
I'm not sure why you consider the last play a mistake on Campbell. The D-Line flushed the quarterback from the pocket. The QB spy Anzalone took too aggressive an angle on Purdy and missed the tackle. That was the mistake.
Derrick Barnes big step was a reason for Campbell getting less playing time.
Lots of great points on this thread, I want to add that the biggest reason he didn’t play a lot early was because Derrick Barnes had played great.
I felt it might take Campbell a minute to develop and he was playing much better at the end of the year. I see DJ Reader helping Jack Campbell the most, even more than AH or Alim, because that second DT was not very consistent or much of a presence last season. McNeil, Reader, and Campbell seems like a pretty damned stout middle for the Lions D
I watched every game the lions literally used him every where. From DE outside linebacker I even seen him rush from the interior but that's rare
He was pro ready as a middle linebacker, and he really excels when anzalone is out. But he’s currently not playing his natural position because he’s not the mike
The biggest thing that limited his snaps in year one had nothing to do with him, it was the development of Derrick Barnes, Barnes was so much better than he had been the prior year that he straight up took the starting job.
