  1. Best defenseman in recent history to not have won a Norris. Similar to Luongo never winnin a Vezina.

  2. My dad was a season ticket holder for the Nashville Predators from 05-06 to 18-19 season. He would sit behind the home net, so he could watch Weber and Rinne play for two periods. My dad would marvel at Weber's defensive game, and would often tell me look at how he plays without the puck. My first jersey was a gold Weber jersey.

  3. My Shea Weber memory is the 2014 Olympics: Weber scored the game winning goal vs Latvia to avoid what would’ve been a pretty embarrassing upset for them. Watching those games at like 7 am.

  4. Even as an Avs fan, Weber is still to this day one of my favorite D-men of all time. Hard to believe him and Suter use to be a pair!

  5. As a Nashville fan I was never a fan of him as Captain, but thats different from his play on the ice. He got screwed out of a Norris when they gave it to Lindstom as a going away preset rather than who was the best Dman that year. In an interview around his retirement David Poile said of all the trades he had done it was one of the few he didn't really like. He said it was purely a business decision.

Oddly enough the things I remember are things like when we played the AV's and he wound up for a PP slapper and the entire team headed for each board, none of them were going to stand in front of that thing. It was honestly one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Then there was the beast mode plays where guys would make him mad and he would just man handle them. Zetterberg getting his head slammed into the boards in the playoffs is a good example.

He was a great player to watch, but there are always mixed emotions with him. He was a Pred, but lots of us old time fans have that tainted because of the contract situation he put a franchise in that was holding on by a thread at the time.

  6. I remember hearing from….. _____, how in 2008 as an rfa he was approached hush hush, don't sign your rfa right away….wait for an offer sheet😮

  7. Thanks for honoring Shea, he and Markov on the same defense pair was just as great as Subban and Markov together. He was the heart and soul of the Habs along with Carey Price for a long time, both to the bitter end.

  8. Three players I've written letters to with cards included have ever signed them and returned them to me – Jacob Markstrom, Robert Dirk, and Shea Weber.

  9. Wouldn’t it be funny if he magically returned this coming up season and won a Cup with a team that doesn’t even have a name yet?

  10. Just crazy how that playoff run just destroyed Weber and Price. Both could have had more years of hockey in them but…ended that way.

  11. I also have his road white jersey. I got it for Christmas 2015, about 6 months before he got traded 😂

  12. One of the biggest travesties of the Montreal Weber era is not resigning Markov. Markov would have been the perfect partner to play on Weber’s left. After they let him walk Montreal never found a suitable partner to play with.

  13. I'll always remember him putting the puck through the net in the olympics, I couldn't believe it when I saw it.

  14. Can you do a career video for Brent Seabrook? I know it's been a while since he retired, but I think his career was great. Chicago got a lot of flak for signing him to that huge contract that took him to 37 years old, but it was very much backpay for helping them win three cups.

  15. Weber is for sure one of my all time favorite defencemen. Though but not stupid, excellent stickhandling def and leadership mid to later years. Subban was brilliant too but of the two my dream team would definitely had Weber. Loved both amd their careers are over but yeah. Stories I've heard of Weber's leadership… Wow.

  16. As a preds fan I’ll never stop being grateful him and his career
He may not have been part of the playoff run but his impact on the team culture was crucial for us to get there

  17. insane trivia that a player who played for exclusively Nashville Predators and Montreal Canadiens was on a contract signed by the Philadelphia Flyers with the payout completed by the Utah Hockey Club

  18. Him and Price getting indicted to the bchhof in Pentiction this July, you should consider heading up to the interior for it!

  19. On one hand Subban declined quickly after the trade, and yet Weber was often injured and not as good as in Nashville. The intangibles he brought has to play a role in the team's run to the finals though.

  20. Shannon you don't make many mistakes but it is a tragic one to make about Weber's last year. The Habs run in the 20-21 playoffs was marked by Weber and Price fighting through crippling injuries (not hyperbole as the next years prove) and willing the team to the finals. The impact of losing Weber and Price was seen the next year.
I was a huge Subban fan. I thought trading him ranked with the Roy trade as the most idiotic in Canadiens' history. However once I saw what Weber brought to the team in sheer determination and leadership I knew Montreal won the trade.
The level of respect shown to Weber is illustrated in a story about joining the team. Brendan Gallagher was being interviewed about the newcomers to the Habs. The reporter went through the list and Gallagher supplied the nicknames the team gave them. The reporter then asked Gallagher what the team called Weber. "Sir" was his reply.
