A source said Yeo, 50, was headed to a new opportunity “closer to home.”
Where the Toronto-born Yeo might be headed isn’t known, but one does note that his former associate coach in St. Louis Craig Berube has just taken over as head coach in Toronto. Berube was Yeo’s associate coach for a season and a half, before Yeo was fired midway through the 2018-19 season.
Sure seems like Mike Yeo could be on his way to join the Leafs coaching staff, likely running the PK unit like he did with the Canucks.

Looks like Berube’s staff is coming along. Savard looks like he’ll run the PP and Yeo the PK.
This is pure speculation, but if Yeo is indeed going to join the Leafs coaching staff I wonder if they look at Teddy Blueger. Could be a cheap replacement for David Kampf if they decide to dump his salary and Blueger worked well under Yeo in Vancouver
Wait…so, Berube worked under Yeo while in St Louis. They fired Yeo and replaced him with Berube. Now, people are speculating that Yeo might come to Toronto to work for Berube?
Am I getting this right?
Seems like this would be kind of awkward, no? He’d be working for one of his former assistants.
I know he would just be an assistant most likely, but a Mike Yeo hiring is not an inspiring one imo. Guy hasn’t been good anywhere he’s went.
Good thing he’s not going to be the head coach.
This guy got fired during season. Let’s not bring in losers. We need to do better
