  1. Whats the point of a 7 round overall in the nhl draft? Like even round 5-7 is just plain useless.

  2. Columbus will take Lindstrom most likely.
With that being said Catton over Iggy all day
The guy just drives offense. Unlike Iginla who will be reliant on others.
    Numbers don't lie either.

  3. The fact that Wheeler says “I don’t love it” is hilarious. The pick really doesn’t make all that much sense. Wheeler is notorious for being very high on smaller-skilled forwards, and overvalued that over the potential of how it translates to the pro game. He was very low on Slaf.

  4. All these geniuses opting to trade Mailloux…

Please elaborate on prospects at RD other than Mailloux / Reinbacher and Barron

I would trade Matheson without a problem unleash Ghule at LD #1 and go from there.

Matheson trade = buy low sell high, his defensive game isn’t anything to cry about.

Hutson and Mailloux are cheaper options

  5. Sorry, Catton may be great, but watching the playoffs, it has been a lot of Big Boy hockey. Super skilled smaller guys can get you TO the playoffs , large lads with skill, speed, smarts and strength get you through the playoffs in good shape. Yes they are a herd combination to find, can take longer to develop , but the payoff can be GREAT. I HOPE HuGo stick to their plan and get players to get the Habs to the Cup Finals, and out the other side with Cup WINS!!GHG!!

  6. Davidson is another Ryan Phoeling ..!! Good at certain things but ehhh..his ceiling is maybe bottom six… Habs NEED Star power !!! Com'on HUGHES !!!??

  7. This so called trade that may happen will no doubtedly dictate who the Habs take at #5 .

If we get Zegras, we draft Iginla

If we get Necas , then it's a toss up between Catton and Lindstrom, JMO

  8. I heard Catton's best comparaison is Logan Cooley. I wouldn't say no to a Cooley 2.0. But man, im happy im not the one having to make the pick at 5 overall. Iginla, Lindstrom, Catton are available, who do you pick ?

  9. Yakemchuk or Dickinson should be the picks for the habs i would be okay with iginla as well but the Dman this draft are legit too good to pass up on

  10. Love the Lindstrom package but Dude you gotta pick Catton! so much skills with this kid and plays 200ft game! think about it what's has been the knock with the Habs in the past 15-20 years? THE LACK OF ELITE SKILLS! and Catton brings exactly that! besides , 5'11" – 6" isnt that small? some of the best forwards in the game today are 6" / under: Point, Kucherov, Panarim, Pasta , Nylander, J. Hugues, Kaprisov, Aho……

  11. Only big move coming is the Habs drafting another D and then having mouth pieces claiming so & so wouldn’t play for them.

    Rinse and repeat

  12. Catton has great skill and fits the "culture" the Habs are trying to build. He is relentless at both ends. He might not be the biggest but teams hate playing against him.

  13. Size matters, especially down the middle. I love Suze who plays bigger than he is but we haven't seen him much in the playoffs so TBD. Dach is a big guy but the injuries are worrisome at this point. If Dach can't play more than 65 games in the upcoming season I'd be ready to move on from him. So, that leaves Evans, Dvorak who I think might be traded this offseason, Beck and Kapanen. Kap is 6'1 so not small but does he project as a 1 or 2C? I will say this, you don't have to have big centers BUT if you don't, the wingers better be Slaf-esque or the line will get pushed around in the playoffs and I don't see alot of those guys in the lineup in MTL or Laval.

  14. If Lindstrom is still available at 5….you take him. So what if we have lots of centers. Center can play wing as well

And it would be a complete asinine move to trade Mailloux

  15. Trade up for Demidov or take the gamble he will be there at 5, they have the drafts capital. I think Catton will succeed in the NHL and he is kind of a Mighty Mouse type of player so I’m sure he would fit in Mtl.

  16. I'd take Sennecke over Catton. Catton is only the better player now, but let Sennecke keep maturing his game, master his tall frame adding muscle to it and you can forget Catton. We pick for the future, not the now.
(Plus the WHL is the furthest away from NHL realities, it's offense offense offense, defense there is nowhere near as good as in the O or even the Q – so let's not get too carried away with Catton's numbers)
