  1. It’s the hardest trophy to win for a reason. The rangers could have easily taken this series depending on how games go. Hell, I think Florida outplayed them during most of the games the Rangers won, but hockey is funny like that.

  2. Fire Trouba to the moon. Whatever it takes. He single handedly killed this team's chances this year. He was on the ice for almost every goal Panther's scored. Almost every single goal could be blamed on on him. Make Kreider the captain. I say hang on to Mika. He's normally an outstanding defensive number 1 center. He has it within him to absolutely take over games but this season end to end was a bad one (by his standards). So turn the page and get a big tough scoring speedy right winger with Trouba's buy out money. Bring up Othmann and sign Kakko cheaply to see if he can turn the corner. If not, trade him at the trade deadline. Absolutely re-sign Lindgren and Schneider. Hang on to Panarin. He elevates Trocheck and Laffy's game. I hope Chytil can play a full 82 game season without getting injured again. If so the Ranger's would be incredibly strong down the center. Eventually the Rangers entire lineup will be so strong that no matter what opponent they face, they'll be able to overcome it with grit and talent. If Adam Fox were healthy and not a shell of himself and with Igor playing out of his mind, this is a cup contender without a doubt.

  3. Trade the Iranian guy and Panarin (both tiny) to Minnesota for #1 draft picks since they're basically a farm team anyway .. NHL 🖕

  4. Only 4 untouchables imo. Igor, Lindgren, Trocheck and Laffy.

Also it really hurts missing 2 open nets in a 1 goal game. Sadge.

  5. I said this in January, but up to this point no team has ever won the cup while paying a single player over $10m. A well dispersed cap is the key to success. Of course, this is easily proven incorrect if someone like McDavid can put the team on their back, but that just doesn't seem to happen.
I think Florida or Dallas is going to win this year (probably Florida), simply because of this fact. We can dig into all the finer details, but until this is proven wrong, I'm going to stick to it. 🤷‍♀
12+% of the cap going to a single player is just crippling.
I think we will probably see 2 more years of teams without contracts over $10m winning the cup, unless Edmonton manages a win in there.
There are other simiar situations, like Toronto paying 50% of the the cap to 4 players. That's going to be a problem for a long time. If those 4 playes were at $10m even, then they'd probably be on their way to a cup. But their cap spread won't make sense for another 8-10 years.

I think Edmonton's year may be 25/26 if players don't start leaving before then. If they can hold their core together, I think that's the year McD's contract starts to make sense with the cap – or rather, his abilities begin to outweigh the cap problems he causes. If they don't win that year, and McDavid sees an extension to $16m-18m, he's probably never winning a cup.

I think 26/27 could be the Canuck's year. The last year of the OEL dead cap, Canucks should see around a $7m bump in cap that year, because of ~$4.5m from the cap increase, and $2.5m from OEL – and the same the next year. That's huge. It's the last year before Hughes gets paid big time, probably ~$14m. If he takes $14m I think we'll have to wait til 29/30 for that to make sense with the cap. And that will be Miller's last year, and he will probably be in decline. 26/27 or 29/30.

To the subject of the Rangers: Panerin will be 34 in 26/27 when he becomes a UFA, and if he takes a pay cut, or roughly the same salary, then 26/27-29/30 could get the Rangers a cup.

Of course there is a lot that goes into making a winning team. But I firmly believe that is starts with cap sensibility. The moment you start paying players too much you punch your ticket home.

There's also the CBA coming up pretty quickly, which could throw a wrench into things, but I'm going to operate under the assumption that cap related things will remain pretty much the same.

I'm just throwin this out there, I think the cup winners over the next few years will be:
    23/24 – Florida
    24/25 – Dallas
    25/26 – Edmonton
    26/27 – Vancouver
    27/28 – NY Rangers

  6. Shesty is a phhhhh'n MONSTER! That said, JeeBennyChad was a no show, Kreider was hiding and Bread man again with a disappointing showing. Canucks fan, but have a thing with the Rangers like to see them succeed great atmosphere at MSG but lack, like Carolina, that extra mayo.

  7. not sure if they can get the cup with laviolette after this. this was his run for this team i belive. his coaching career speaks for itself where he have this peak run with carolina, philly and nashville in 1-3 seasons to then have a decline.

  8. Can they move Panarin because he has been the “ Star “ the last three years yet it was Trocheck Lafreniere and even kreider obviously miller fox and Schneider Lindgren were terrific and Schneider & Miller are getting even better and fox was really banged up and just didn’t provide that pop on the PP OF ON 5 on 5 😊

  9. The Rangers had good luck and good goaltending against Carolina. They should never have made it out of that series. Probably should have been swept.

  10. If I put Trouba on the market I would say a prayer and buy a lottery ticket if anyone chose to come even close to that contract with that player attached to it.

  11. Sorry for your loss…. As a family full of Devil fans some of us remember game 6 and game 7 of the Devils vs Rangers finals I still (at times) feel the pain.. We won 3 cups since (should've been 5), but when we eliminated the Rangers last year, down 2 games to 0 I felt a little pay back. I personally think the Rangers owners don't care, you guys are fans for life.(they know it) and until you stop buying to a losing team you will get what they give you and be happy.. Maybe your kids will finally wake up and change Jerseys… Our true enemy is not your team it is and always will be the hated Flyers.. Take care..

  12. I wonder if the rangers look at possibly trading for Brady Tkachuk. If that’s possible, I don’t know. But would be interesting.

  13. I wouldn’t want to move anyone really. Maybe move some bottom 6 members and shake up the defense. In 50/50 on trouba. Just like he is when he plays. If he decides he wants to still play hockey and learn how to play better defense and step up and say that he messed up and need to do better defensively I will forgive him and give him another try. But if he just flips his hair and gives a shoulder shrug again. Give the C to Trocheck and buy him out and bring up Zac Jones. Possibly trade him if possibility to a team that desperately needs a defenseman. Like doesn’t have 1 at all.

Bottom 6 that need to go

Kakko: what are we doing with Kakko? I asked myself why we didn’t have him at RW1 all season long because he was our only natural right wing ont he team besides old man wheeler. He also seems like he doesn’t want to play here. So I really don’t care as long as we get value in return or they finally give him the top 6 spot like they did Lafreniere. If they developed Kakko all season long the only reason I can think of is he could’ve had a breakout season and he would be asking for a whole lot of $$$ which is a scummy reason but the only thing I can think of.

    Wennberg gone

    Roslovic. Idk prob gone.

The only guys guaranteed staying are Goodrow and Vesey and Cuylle that’s it.

    Defense.

Trouba will be under the spotlight more than Zibanejad

Gustafson idk maybe 1 more year.

    Lindgren must stay

Miller must stay but just develop into a better player coaching/practice etc…

Fox…. He needs to heal up. Untouchable.

Schneider great but also needs a little help like miller I get it they are young but they need to tighten up fast

  14. I'm not gonna lie, it really annoyed me that the Florida fans were chirping Igor, the one consistently solid player the rangers had this postseason, like he was the one messing up. I know it's just fans being wierdos but it rubbed me the wrong way

  15. I don’t think Mika is the issue but I do think they have to get more gritty players. Regular season VS playoff’s are totally different but you need to have a regular season to get to the playoffs. They should get rid of 17, 24, 6, 96 , 91, and even 72 he’s injury prone so if they can someone for him do it.

  16. Good bye Mika (Zibanejad). Nice guy. Horrible face offs. Critical turnover machine (see game 4). Streaky regular season. Milk carton post season. Shannon once said the Rangers and Panthers play the same style. That’s incorrect. The Panthers are more physical and forecheck you to death. The Rangers pass, then pass…back and forth….baaaack and forth, baaaaack and forth…more time off the clock, gave Florida all the time they needed to set up defensively. You cannot run out Mika, Kreider, & player du jour as your top six and hope to make it to the Finals. Break that line up. Panarin is a great regular season player but in the post season, Trochek & Lafreniere carried this team. Rangers NEED a Tkachuk of their own (Brady) or they’ll never make the Finals.

  17. WARNING – TML Content:

Funny, I think many in TML-Verse think TML "just" needs a world class goalie and puck moving d-men to get the puck to their highly skilled forwards and the Stanley Cup is theirs.

    Didnt work for NYR.

  18. If I were the Rangers, I would just fold up operations, trade off the players, and implode MSG in shame.

  19. Move Trouba and Panarin, thats 19.6 in capspace. Pick up a solid defender and two powerforwards, mini tkachuk, bennet type of player. Will go well with both zibanejad and Trochek line.

  20. Fuhgetabout EVERYTHING else.
The NYR have to extend Igor.
    Priority One.
    Nothing else matters.
And Igor's cap number effects EVERY other decision.
    $9M minimum.
Drury has to start with Igor extension .
Extending the MVP has to be job one.

  21. Panarin, should, take,April,May,and June off,we’ll he might as well!A old Blackhawks fan,who from the get go,saw a lot of talent, but no grit what so ever!

  22. Thanks for the breakdown always appreciate your well thought out content and videos.

As a very long-standing Rangers fan since the late late '70s I'm disappointed but two years ago it was a little tougher to swallow this year we definitely got beat by the better team. Without Igor this would have been over in 4 maybe 5 games. I just don't see this team as a championship team talk to me to say that this is my team I have a partial season ticket package I spend a lot of money going to see them but I still am reasonable when it comes to my end game expectations.

My thoughts on if I could be the GM for a day. Trouba buyout is priority number one bc no one os trading for him. If he was making 4 mill a year like he should be I'd be fine with keeping him but he isn't and drury is suffering for Gorton's bad contracts. Kakko I would move and Zibanejad. I don't think he's worth the eight mil that he gets. My concern would be how does Kreider do without his bff. Mika is not tough enough when it matters IMO.

  23. Trouba has to go. Thats the most important thing to try to get done. Also Schneider stays for sure. Lindgren and Kakko I would be fine with having them stay or go depending on what kind of contract they want. All the UFA's go.

  24. Mika does not have the heart of a champion every year when the lights are brightest he fades. For the Rangers to have a chance he has to go. More importantly Trouba must go. Trouba is absolutely horrible. He cannot defend. He cannot score. And somehow he is making 8 mil plus a year. His presence on the team is one of the biggest things holding them back. He is on the ice for more than half perhaps even 2/3 of the goals against. We could have kept Buch and added far better players. Instead we have this bum of a captain.
