Florida really has two 10m players CAP wise. Tkachuk makes 9.5m a year.

The reason that the ‘NHL tournament’ as you call it is predicated sometimes on luck, is because of expansion and the salary cap.
Back in the 80’s/90’s (before the Salary Cap) the elite teams won the Cup. Gretzky Oilers, Bossy Islanders, Lemieux Penguins, Messier Rangers, Yzerman Red Wings, Sakic Avalanche, Stevens Devils won a total of 20 Cups. Yes, there were upsets but a Cinderella team never won the Cup. Because expansion diluted the league and the Salary Cap created parity, the NHL playoffs has turned into a tournament. That’s why playoff hockey isn’t as good as it was 20 years ago.
