  1. Watching tape he's rising to the top 5. Edge work and protecting the puck is elite. Combine will rise him further. Montreal will take him at 5.

  2. I hope columbus takes him at 4. You know exactly what kind of character you're getting with him because his father made sure he's plays the right way.

  3. I'm very surprised Iginla rose so high. It seems like Cristall is serving him pucks on a silver platter

  4. I think Iginla goes in the 7-10 range. I’d be surprised if he fell out of the top 10 but I don’t think he’s a top 5 pick either.

  5. He's going to be awesome and Calgary would be stupid not to pick him… Just for the marketing alone.

However, I could see the Hab's taking him.

I could also see Ottawa taking him. SS is ex team mates with Iginla so he knows what that family is capable of first hand. He's the exact type of player the Sens want and Imagine having another "legacy" family name on the team… maybe even get Iggy into some sort of position with the team as well.

    It's what the Sens need

  6. There is absolutely no way Flames pass on Tij if available at 9.. He won't be there at 9.. I predict Flames will trade up and Jerome will be the one who comes out to announce the pic and give his son his jersey and hat!! Tij will be a Flame one way or another!!

  7. As an Oilers fan… Calgary has to take Tij. Jarome was my fav player of all time and still is. I really hope Calgary takes him. Btw… Joe may be even better. Glad to have an Iginla back in the league.

  8. There was a lot of talk about him in MTL, apparently they met and talked often. I doubt he is plan A, but i would honestly be very happy with Iginla at 5. I honestly think after Celebrini and Demidov, which I don't see dropping to 5 I think the hawks end up taking him, it's dealer's choice when it comes to forwards…. I think all the forwards are potentially interchangeable depending on your needs, and I don't think any of them has an immediate impact. So if Cayden Lindstrom is taken for example, or if his injury scares you.. take Iginla.

  9. It totally depends how many defenseman will be drafted before. I am pretty sure Montreal will pick him at 5 if Demidov and Lindstrom are taken… this draft is very unpredictable.

  10. The dream scenario is Tij Iginla is still available at 9th overall but unlikely at this stage. Calgary Flames could settle for Berkly Catton at 9th overall.

  11. I see him in the 5-9 range. It sounds like Montréal is focused on taking a forward, so itll either be: Demidov (easily the best forward past celebrini but some teams are scared of his russian factor), Lindstrom (has the size and highest upside but injury/IQ issues), Helenius (highest IQ but not elite in any other category), Catton (most skilled in NA but lacks size), or Iginla; and of that group, he's probably the safest pick. If he's there at 9, I can't see Calgary passing on him (even though their system needs D).

That said, I think NJ would be the best spot for him. But once again, I just can't imagine Calgary passing on him.

  12. I have a small Iginla story from around the late 90s. It was playoff time. The Flames were out and the Oilers were playing their 90s nemesis Dallas Stars and the Oilers were just eliminated for the upteenth time it felt. I was at a club in West Edmonton Mall with some friends and Iginla ended up sitting at the end of our table by himself minding his own business. Soon after, Mike Modano and some of the other Stars showed and later on Ryan Smyth and a bunch of Oilers. It was interesting to see hockey players from different teams socializing after a hard-fought game.

  13. As much as Craig Conroy is denying that The Flames are in a rebuild, The Calgary Flames are absolutely in a rebuild. Tij Iginla would be a great asset that they could acquire, who could be ready in about 2-3 years, that would replace some of the top scoring talent they have lost recently.

That being said, knowing Calgary's luck, Tij will be drafted at #8 in this year's draft. But hey, Joe could be available in just two years time. 😀

  14. To be honest it sounds like Iginla is a pressure player given this year/playoffs so I think he'd be fine with that pressure.

  15. Ottawa is probably going to pick him. Parekh doesn't fit the bill for Ottawa since they have too many D like him despite being a RHD. A good two way player is something the Sens would really like. I'd probably go with a more defensive D with Charlie Elick where Ottawa can get him at 25 so they can pick up Iginla with their 7th.

  16. As a Calgary fan I gotta say, it would be neat if the flames got him, but the flames shouldn't be way overpaying to get him. If he's not available Catton, Lindstrom, buium or Parekh likely is available and the franchise would be very smart to just take that guy.

If I were an NHL gm picking between 5-8 I'd be calling Conroy and telling him I'm picking Iginla to try and get some assets, even if I don't plan on drafting him. I've heard Montreal is very interested if Demidov doesn't fall, which I doubt he does.

Great video as always Shannon !

  17. He's been moving up draft boards, but there's still five guys you could lose your job for picking Iginla over. If he's the 10th or 11th best prospect I think picking him is Calgary's safest move. It will energize the fans, firstly. If the guy drafted 10th ends up better than who they took, fans will forgive a lot easier passing on Zayne Parekh for Tij than they would passing on Tij for Parekh.

  18. "Flames trade 6 unprotected first round picks to the Sharks to select Tij Iginla first overall"

Thats where the mock drafts are going.

  19. Could be a very special moment if he drops to the flames.

Having Iggy call his own son to the podium… How awesome would that be.

  20. The Seattle team his 1st WHL season was stacked that's why he didn't play as much as Kelowna.
They had Milic/Ratzlaff,Lambert,Dach,Guenther,Sawchyn,Korchinski,Davidson,Ciona,Schaefer,Crynkovic. I don't think it was that season or one prior they had Rempe/TyrelBauer as well.
They played the Finals in MTS Center Winnipeg against WinnipegIce before they moved to Washington.
The Ice were stacked as well coach by
    James Patrick.
