The Bruins’ next wave of Providence players | Poke the Bear

poke the bear is powered by priz pi the exclusive daily fantasy partner of the clnx media Network and welcome into poke the bear episode 236 presented by priz pick go use the promo code clns to get $100 cash back on your first deposit going into game one of the the finals between the Celtics and Mavs there is a square for Jason Tatum for more than 0.5 points so all he needs is to get one one point I don’t know if you watch the NBA I don’t know if you watch basketball I don’t know if you know who Jason Tatum is feels like a pretty good bet that a pretty good spot there that he’s going to have at least one point in in in this game so go add that uh to your squares over at prize picks we’re also sponsored by game time tickets use that promo code clns to get $20 off your first purchase my name is Conor Ryan and as you can see we’re we’re going to roll with another solo pod today I I again we’re at this point of the off season not a whole lot going on uh with the Bruins there’s some rumors here and there we’ve discussed the Jacob Chan uh rumor with Lena Zar we’ve discussed Marty NES uh Evan and I discussed uh you know looking at the New Jersey Devils and whether they could move the number 10 overall pick in a trade for allmark we’ve covered a lot of those things and again it’s not anything tangible right now so as we try to speed things up here a little bit and get moving towards the fun stuff the actual tangible stuff of looking at the NHL draft and looking at uh free agency and all that stuff that again all seems to be bunched together uh at the end of June early early July maybe let’s just roll with the the the standard uh path that we go to during these these solo SS and do a little bit of a mailbag here so as always I uh reached out to the Fine people on X Twitter whatever you want to call it these days and uh ask for some input ask for a few questions of the brunes where they are right now uh at this point of the off season what do you like to see from this team moving forward so might as well just dive right into it right what else what else are we gonna talk about what what else am I going to say to you guys as I speak into the void here uh for these questions so uh let let’s lead off with a question from Brian at Rusty Graham who asked uh given cap room picks prospects and roster bees have a lot of options correct what’s the one player you want them to get the most via trade signing whatever oh first of all thank you for the question Brian uh who do I want it’s obvious leand drle what what are we talking about here no again I feel like once we get to the dry dle discourse one we have to see what the Oilers do and two I feel like dry cdal discussion discourse is going to be my break case of uh you know break glass in case of emergency right if we’re at that point means we have nothing else to talk about I don’t see it being a really tangible thing that’s going to happen uh you rarely have players of that caliber you know get dangled on the market or or you know hit free agency would be great I just don’t see it uh to be honest with you but in terms of realistic options for this off season um I think the obvious one’s got to be Elias lindol and we’ve talked about him quite a bit so I won’t go through the usual Spiel but I just think you look at where that’s an upgrade of of a spot on the the depth chart that the brones desperately need someone else in there um and Elias Lindholm is a guy that should be able to impact the game positively for this team and not just his own play um but he makes just so many other guys better around him not just the guys on his line but if you get lindol and you’re able to move zaka further down the lineup you’re able to move him to Wing where he thrived in that first year with that all Check Line um if you’re able to again like I think the best case scenario is moving Charlie Coyle who again showed this past year that he can be a a capable top six player um when needed but if all a sudden you have this guy who had a career year and you can put him back down on the third line and your third line next year is Morgan geeky Charlie Coyle Trent Frederick it’s a pretty good third line that’s a line that I think you feel really good about and we’ll talk about Matt potra we’ve had a few questions about him as well but if you’re just looking for a veteran established grouping there in your bottom six you cannot go wrong with um what a grouping of coil frederck and G gey can provide you uh in these games so a lot to like about you know not just lindol what he provides in terms of his defensive game which the Bruins obviously prioritize you look at um his faceof numbers which are an automatic upgrade that’s something you desperately need further up in the lineup to get that off you know get that puck possession but I I I just think also Lind has more to give and yes like in a perfect world is he a Bonafide franchise Topline Center probably not but he’s probably you know what he is he’s a lot better than what he was last year where he was on a dreadful Calgary team um was put out of position for quite a bit uh during his stinton Vancouver and then what do you know they kind of figure out how to use him in the playoffs and he scored some big goals for them so even if he’s not this Topline fixture if he’s your onec next year and he’s your 2C down the road as you’re able to continue to assess your options that’s pretty good for a guy that I think as a a barometer um can give you 60 points while playing good two a game maybe even more maybe he’s a 70-point guy if he’s staed next to Pono and I saw a few comments either was on you know YouTube with these recordings maybe it was on Twitter X whatever we’re going to call it these days about how the Bruins don’t need a 60o guy they need an 80o guy so does every other freaking team in the NHL every team would like an 80o Center they don’t grow on trees they’re not there in free agency they’re really not there via trade unless it’s some guy that takes a huge step forward so you got to make two with what you have and if making do with what you have is Elias Lindholm you got a pretty good player that moves the needle for you and again makes so many guys around you better so I think Elias lenol is the obvious pick there and I’ll also put Marty NES but Marty NES in terms of what I think could be the best case scenario of what the Bruns can get in the trade for Lena Sark and again you probably have to throw something else in there to make it work I still don’t know whether or not Martin hes is a centerman I know he wants to be one but the numbers don’t really reflect that and how he was utilized in Carolina but that just seems like a trade that if you know if you’re not looking at draft capital and you’re not looking at like the number 10 pick if that’s something that’s available for the Bruins um but if NES is a guy that you can you can pick up that is 25 is a talented player you know adds to an area of deficiency on your team terms of scoring punch playmaking speed um that would be the Bruins making the most of a situation where they’re trading a valuable asset and Mark so I would say that those are the two guys that really stand up to me in terms of realistic options I I would say those are the two guys that if they’re able to get one if not both which we’d see how that money would work there um those are the two guys that stand out for me so again thank you for that question we’ll move on now to one from mam cars uh at Patrice Carson who asks uh two questions first of all do they keep Pat maroon and will the Panthers beat the oil uh maybe let’s work backwards there in terms of panthers Oilers I got Panthers in six I I just think like McDavid and what you know the how topheavy that team is and again it’s topheavy but you’ve got multiple cheat codes on that Edmonton team that can take over a series so would not surprise me if this prediction is wrong but I just think you look at Florida and and how dominant they’ve been and how deep that team is where they’ve got so many guys that can be the hero On Any Given night they have defenseman that you know clog up great a ice they can activate down the other end of the ice and make plays uh Sasha barov is having an unbelievable run uh for this team right now um it’s not like there you know Bovi has made timely saves is he’s still like a a world world beater in net no but you also have Stewart Skinner down the other end of the ice so it’s not really a complete mismatch there and you give that edge to bosski in this series um and I just think when you look at just how Florida plays how physical they are how Relentless they are in the four Che again when you have someone like McDavid that can just skate out of anything maybe that’s the the perfect counter you need maybe it’s the only team that can counter what uh Florida does when they’re really effective on that for check but I think for me I I’m still gonna go Panthers I I still think they’re the most complete team uh Team built for the playoffs um a team that has multiple guys that can take over any given night where as you look at the Oilers if they don’t have McDavid or or dry cidal or even maybe bushard this especially this run driving driving the the engines for them um they’re kind of stuck in the water whereas you look at what barov can do what kachuck and you know Veri and and Bennett can do what Anton londell can do what you know Gustaf foring or um Brendan Montour they have so many guys that any given night can really strike and and shift the momentum uh of a game of a series of of a championship run so I’m gonna go Panthers and six that’s my prediction now would not be surprised if it’s wrong but I think it’s gonna be a really entertaining series of just how those two teams play how McDavid does on the stage and whether or not the the Panthers can finally get over the hump uh this year after coming up short last year so uh that’s my prediction for the Stanley Cup Final as for Pat maroon it’s interesting right because I think you can make a case that the Brun if they’re trying to save money and use you know their their cap space um effectively if you tell me that next year the fourth line is some combination of you know beer brezo is kind of the two fixtures there and then Loco you know is it Trevor countar is it a player like that um you know you know you could like a guy like Riley Durant make a huge leap forward like there’s a lot of guys down you know in Providence in the system and you know on the team with beer and uh Breo and and loo that could make a lot of sense if you’re just going to roll that group and let them develop and there’s you know should be more to give with guys like beer and Breo especially I still wouldn’t be surprised if the Bruins you know kick the tires on maroon and just see what the prices I think it’s the biggest thing uh Sweeny also mentioned during his last press conference they had to check on maron’s health which uh see how maybe the state of his back is after going through those procedures um but if like the money right we’re talking about like you know league minimum 1 million with incentives um and he can be a guy that maybe he’s not in there every single night but you know a guy that’s a veteran can pull people in the right direction uh I think you saw where his presence was you know maybe he didn’t see it on the ice he didn’t you know wasn’t able to drop the gloves with Sam bner no one wanted to drop the gloves with him but his accountability his way you know he talked with the media uh the message that he kind of preached in you know those two uh playoff series uh this spring just just he does seem like a guy that can bring value it’s just uh you know brings value to the team brings value to the locker room which just how much is that value worth in terms of dollars and cents so I think the Bruins would love to have him back just depends on what the ultimate price is going to be so uh thank you for that question uh we’ll keep on diving into more of these but before we do that take a quick break here from our good friends over at prize picks the finals are right around the corner it’s time for you to get in on the playoff action win up to 100 times your cash with prize $100 prize picks pick more pick less it’s that easy now let’s get back to the show Once Again shout out to our good friends over at prize picks all right let’s move on to the next question here this is from Dao time 13 who asks uh would it be prudent for the Bruins to make a trade for Alex tuck two years left at 4.75 million as a second line right wing also can we trade Brenan Carlo making 4.1 million and signed Brett pesy as the second second pairing right-handed defenseman clear upgrade and probably cost between five and a half six and a half million uh per year both moves make us better and tougher to play against and don’t eat up tons of cap space uh thoughts so I would say I’m not moving I think Brenan kow’s arguably been probably their most consistent defenseman over the last couple years now that I think it seems like his concussion issues as a whole haven’t really Sprout up too much I know he he dealt with something earlier on this year but I think you look at what he’s making in terms of you know that cap hit for a guy that can play 19 20 minutes a night um is great on the PK is sound in his own end of the ice I think that’s a contract especially you look at just how much the Cap’s going to jump up this summer you look at next year and how much the ceiling’s going to jump up more and more you’re going to have more and more of these guys like Kyo who may not be flashy you know they you you may think that they don’t bring a lot of value because they’re playing a lot of heavy dzone minutes and a lot of dzone stats but um I do think Brennan Klo is a guy that that contracts already pretty good value and it could it should keep on getting better and when you look at just his age how he’s played the last couple years I think that’s one spoted the lineup yet you don’t really touch uh and again I think Brett PES is a very good player he’s dealt with quite a few injuries and it’s kind of the inverse of Kyo he’s done with a lot of injuries lately that you look at the mileage he’s had and again he in his you know Prime the last couple years with Carolina was a force fantastic underrated defenseman one of many underrated defenseman on that Carolina team but look now at the year he had the injuries that have kind of popped up lately I don’t think you want to be the team giving him that contract even though he had has had an impressive run and um it just seems like his marcket right now it’s going to be interesting to see how it all kind of plays out but I wouldn’t touch uh K and replacing them with peshi the tuck one’s interesting because I know I believe it was Elliot fredman who reported way back when that the Bruins and I think the Rangers had kicked the tires um and that might have been a little bit more of speculation from Elliott’s uh perspective in terms of what teams were reaching out but he mentioned I think that the Bruins and Rangers were two teams that were uh were interested in seeing if Alex tuck would uh be available in a trade and again if you’re looking at acquiring assets through deals like that g g tuck makes a lot of sense if the Bruins are going outside of the box for a guy that you know has size I think he’s 6’4 um can use that you know use that frame to to win Puck battles is good at the net front um High motor kind of player that has produced in the past as well whether it’s with Vegas or with Buffalo um obviously his uh went to BC his brother Luke went to Buu so he’s got those ties as well which seems like you always have to draw those connections when it comes to the Bruins and who they want to Target uh out in frency or the trade deadline but um that is an interesting one like I feel like the price is going to be Steep and when you when it comes to the Bruins and what their trade assets are or what have you that becomes a little bit tougher we can talk about Lena somark and what his return is till the cows come up because that’s one that’s an obvious one it’s an area the Bruins can par ways with what’s going to be the asking price if the Sabres are really serious about moving on from Alex tuck because again if the money’s right if the the trade you know assets are right brones would love to have him but are we talking like Mason Luray are we talking Matt ptra you know are we talking a player like that because again tuck makes you better but do you want to give up some of those blue chip prospects in order to bring him aboard so I think that’s what it comes down to maybe we’ll hear more about this later on this offseason when it comes to tuck and whether or not he is available but that is just something I think it’s important to ponder uh when it comes to the brunes acquiring a player like that and what it’s going to cost because I really couldn’t tell you but it feels like when you look at what that contract is with tuck and what the production has been how his skill set seems to be something that a lot of teams have coveted the last couple years I think it’s gonna be a pretty penny in terms of giving up a pretty good young player or two or three to to pry him out of Buffalo so we’ll see how that develops but that’s a good that’s a good call on your part in terms of bringing up a player like that that maybe is outside of the box um but fits the bill as to what the Bruins should be looking at in terms of what players they should be kicking the tires on at this point of the off season um all right we move on to the next one this is from Ice Frog ice frog 67 who uh asks uh what are your thoughts on the potential roles for lysel marov and ptra next year Bruins want to generate more offense they may need to give some Dynamic young players a chance on the top three lines uh great question uh it is going to be fascinating to see how they approach this right because you make a great point that the Bruins are looking for more offense maybe it’s the the the patient approach with some of these players that have kind of shown what they can do you know whether it’s ptra last year in the NHL during those those brief spurts or what a guy like marav and lysel done down in Providence like how much are you going to glean out of you know merul and LEL they’re continuing to put together strong performances uh during you know a against AHL competition like we know that marov if he’s playing in Providence next year is probably going to be a point per game guy if lell is healthy same thing but you know we saw last year where marov gets called up and he’s been like a playing eight nine minutes a night like I understand you don’t want to throw him into the fire maybe but like what are you going to glean from a player a playmaking option like if you’re not focusing in on on you know giving him some leeway to develop and thrive in those spots so um it’s a great point I could see especially patra’s case they give him some time to see if he can uh get his feet back under him down in Providence and string together some some good play get his confidence growing after you know suffering that shoulder injury and kind of going to those growing pains in the NHL so I could see them giving him a little bit of leeway and again that can change if he lights things up uh during training camp of the preseason but I think it you know regardless of what the Bruins do this offseason in terms of adding Talent on the wing uh anything like that I I think it would you know do the Bruins well if they do give guys like lell and Mary just opportunities that doesn’t mean like if they don’t show anything in preseason or or um Camp to just give them 14 minutes a night but if lysel dominates uh in a couple of these games if Merc strings together some games cover out a spot for him like have them you know again like look at what ptra did last year where it’s like all the signs pointed to him going back down to Junior made it hard for the the Bruins to keep him you know away from the NHL team like and again some of that falls on LEL and merkulov they need to perform in September and October when it comes to fighting for those minutes but if they hold up their end I think it would do the Bruins well to give them some leeway that doesn’t mean you you staple them into the depth chart and they’re playing you know 50 games even if the numbers aren’t there like you know the Bruins one already have a good enough team in place and should add more talent to this roster um in the months ahead that like if lysel is in you know we get to February and lel’s played 50 something games and he’s got four goals and 11 assists and he’s not producing in a featur role they’re not going to keep him in that spot but I do think it is important to give those guys if they perform well this preseason little bit of a Runway to see what they can do because you know maybe even it’s the case where it’s you know guys like lysel and merkulov it’s only natural as much as we look at these athletes and think they’re just so programmed to you know go into every year with a clean slate and not think about last year and just accept their role when you’ve been in Providence and the AHL for a couple years and you’ve been productive and you don’t get those minutes it wears on you like I’m sure if you give them a shot like lysell is probably like let you know I I’ve done what I can in Province let me show you what I can do at the next level like maybe you get something out of that as well so it’ll be really interesting to see how the Bruins do approach that um with those younger players but I I do think it is something that you have to consider especially if they perform well uh during preseason action so that’s definitely something to keep tabs on uh in the months ahead before we wrap this one up let’s take another quick break here from our good friends over our game time quick break to tell you about my good friends over at game time I am very excited about the NBA play playoffs and what’s awesome is here in Boston Celtics fans make TD all right might as well uh end this with one more uh question from our mailbag this one’s from Liam mcpoil I hope not the actual Liam but uh he ass uh increasing team toughness or scoring depth both are important but which is more so to improve this team’s playoff success great question tough question Liam uh but if you ask me like one you can also find ways to address both right if you’re able to get players that um and again you’re not going to find a Sam Bennett or player like that on the open market but guys with speed that can win Puck battles can add more scoring punch um you know you’re able to kind of kill two birds with one stone if you find those players now who is it right is it is it Elias lindol who you know isn’t really a maybe a Bruiser but has a high motor is you know addresses an area of need Chandler Stevenson has a really high motor he’s a guy that could help you out in that regard um so I I think the Bruins have to view this as and it’s something that I think you saw with how Neely even mentioned speed you know the last couple years it’s been like getting into inside ice being more physical this year was about speed it’s like I feel like the Bruins probably felt like they had a a lot of heft and a lot of size on on their team especially up run and just because like you know you had Pat maroon and he wouldn’t you know he didn’t get a a heavyweight bout with Sam Bennett which again like Sam Bennett wasn’t gonna fight you know maroon mentioned that like he’s not gonna get an instigator penalty and put his team you know at risk in a critical game like if you’re if you’re doing that and you’re a Bruins fan you’re pumped about that as the Panthers score two Power Play Goals against you in a critical elimination game I’m sure that feels great probably feels great in the moment and then you you you wake up the next day and realize that that cost to a a playoff series in a season like that wasn’t going to happen at any point when the Panthers were not going to engage back at whatever Mar was trying to do so I do think the Bruins have you know a good maybe foundation in terms of having guys that can you know do a little bit of both right can impact the game with their speed and there’s more to give in those roles right like even a guy like Johnny Beacher is not a a Bruiser per se but he’s a big body that skates really well wins Puck battles and should continue to grow in that role um so when you look at the guys they already have on this roster like a beer like a geeky who’s you know able to land some hits even he’s not like a Bruiser or a a brawler or anything like that uh Frederick guys like that um and you’re able to maybe like add just one more guy on the blue line that can provide that like a Brendan Dylan you know someone like that um I think you’re in a pretty good spot toughness wise and again that’s you can we’ll cycle back on this the Bruins get out muscled in a playoff series next year bring this back and call me out on it but I think in terms of the most obvious thing it’s got to be the scoring depth you know I think it was um Jim Montgomery said you can’t win games two to one in the playoffs every single night and I do think that’s the easiest Avenue for the Bruins in terms of um you know getting themselves over the hump I I I think they have some some toughness they have a little bit of grit to their team you can always add to it and I think they’ll they’ll find guys that can maybe do a little bit of both as I mentioned before but I do think you just need more scoring punch you need you can’t win all these games this close you can’t put all the burden on Jeremy Swan to bail you out night in and night out just not feasible not tenable um it’s not a winning formula so if you had to ask me I would say scoring depth it has to be probably the more critical thing right now at this stage of the off season so um that will do it for our latest solo mailbag episode I always enjoy doing these I always enjoy getting all these questions you guys always nail it with uh what you’re sending along and in terms of uh the top topics of the day what we should focus on all that good stuff so 1. The Bruins are looking for more offense…why does this always imply forwards? Picking up serious points from the d-man position started in Boston. What happened?

  2. The Bruins every year. Run with a team of cheap make shift young 4th line who can’t really fight or step up to other big guys then adds a tough piece at the deadline…If the B’s can just keep maroon that stops guys from running people like Potrias early on and injuring them. Just food for thought…2019/2020 was our last legit 4th line till they had Maroon Beecher Brauzau / BoQvist…sign him

  3. Isn’t Matt Martin a free agent. Also another legit tough guy to add with experience and good defensive style system success….if Maroon’s back is to much a concern

  4. I would like to see

    Zacha Lindholm Pastrnak
    Marchand Poitras (Necas/Toffoli)
    Frederic Coyle Geekie
    (Maroon / Martin) Beecher Brauzea
    Lauko Henien

    Lorehi McAvoy
    Lindholm Carlo
    ??? Peeke
    Wotherspoon

    Swayman
(Either Bussi / cheap vet on a year deal)

    23 man roster

  5. Bennett suckering Marchy should have solidified Marchy's bid for the Lady Byng.

Also, nobody is trading Carlo. How could you even replace him???

  6. The next wave of Providence Bruins players?

I wouldn't call it a next "wave" of future good NHL players that's in the Bruins pipeline. Instead, it's more like a rain drop or two is in their crap farm system

Whether you want to say it was bad drafting, too many draft picks given away to either fix past draft mistakes, past UFA mistakes or to just go "all-in" like they did in 2022-23….. It doesn't matter

The fact remains that after this 2024 the Bruins would have gone 5 of the last 7 years without drafting in the first round

And 3 of the last four years without drafting in the 2nd round (and it'll be 4 out of 5 after next year as they don't have a 2nd round pick again until 2026)

Considering the VAST MAJORITY of long term, 5-10+ career NHL players come from the 1st and 2nd rounds of the NHL draft. Look at Boston's draft capital from 2018-2024 in the 1st and 2nd rounds:

    2024- no 1st
    2023- no 1st
    2022- no 1st
    2021-Downtrending Fabian Lysell
    2020-No 1st
    2019-John Beecher- 4th line center
    2018- No 1st

    2024- no 2nd
    2023- no 2nd
    2022- Matt Poitras
    2021- No 2nd
    2020- Mason Lohrei
    2019- No 2nd
2018- Axl Andersson (bust in BOS and Anaheim, moved in the David Backes Salary Dump)

When that's the return in the 1st round of the draft for your NHL team in the last 7 draft years….

Your NHL Farm System is likely going to be trash and for the most part, that's exactly what Boston Bruins farm system is, #TRASH

In 7 draft years in the 1st and 2nd rounds the Boston Bruins have only added Fabian Lysell, John Beecher, Matt Poitras and Mason Lohrei

And if you think that's good because Poitras and Lohrei look good, Beecher looks okay and Lysell a maybe?…. You're F.N, nuts.

There is not a single D-Man that will play in Providence that is even a solid #7 in the NHL. The only player that may actually be a regular in the NHL one day on defense in PVD next year is maybe Frederic Brunet and he's a raw player with a long way to go

At forward there is not a single Top 6 center in their farm system, nor a Top 6 left wing, nor a Top 4 RD, nor a Top 4 LD and right now all Fabian Lysell looks like is not their next Top 6 right wing but the next Don Sweeney busted 1st round pick

After you get past Lysell and Brandon Bussi in Providence, the two guys probably closest to playing in the NHL, this is what's left in Providence…. And spoiler alert, this is a ROTTEN list of players

Georgii Merkulov- Undrafted player. No other NHL team would give them anything of value for in any trade. Lacks both NHL size and speed. Not good on face-offs, Average defensively. Not a center in the NHL. At his ceiling he's some form of a poor man's Danton Heinen in the bottom 6

Brett Harrison- A 3rd line, big body that had to moved from center to wing due to his crap foot speed. Maybe he's a bottom 6 wing a la Justin Brazzeau in the NHL. He also may never play in the NHL full time, so…

Trevor Kuntar- Heard of Marc McLaughlin. Yep, he's another one of those guys. Bottom 6 AHL tweener that at his ceiling, may carve out a role as a 4th liner in the NHL

    Curtis Hall- See Trevor Kuntar

    Riley Duran- See Trevor Kuntar

    Lukę Toporowski- AHL lifer

    Anthony Richard- AHL lifer

Frederic Brunet- Young, raw, bottom pair, offense first d-man that is years away from the NHL if he ever makes it

Ryan Mast- Probably nothing more than #7 D-Man at his ceiling in the NHL More like a full time AHL player for his career

    Michael Callahan- See Ryan Mast

    Alex Regula- See Ryan Mast

Ian Mitchell & Reilly Walsh: Small, not physical guys that would be bottom pair guys in the NHL at their ceilings. Both are Matt Grzelyck types that are too weak physically for NHL playoff style hockey and the exact type of d-men the Bruins need to move away from

That's it folks, that's what's down in Providence or the so called, "next wave"

And beyond those guys in PVD the rest of the Bruins farm system, so Canadian Juniors, USHL, NCAA, USNDTP and all the over seas leagues…..

There isn't much there to speak of either, in fact their best prospects, which as a collective, aren't very good to begin with, are all already in Providence for the most part

Maybe some late round long shots that have improved their stock a bit since being drafted in recent years like Dan Locemelis & Cole Spicer can make the NHL in two or three years but again, those guys aren't stars at their ceilings, just more bottom 6 fodder

Go to the 2018 draft. Every player drafted by Sweeney from 2015-2018 that will ever play in the NHL already has or never will outside of maybe Curtis Hall (2018)

So nothing else from those drafts is on the way.

    What about the 2019-2023 drafts?

2019 Draft- Outside of Beecher, who is already in the NHL, no other Bruins draft pick will be a real NHL player

2020- Mason Lohrei was a hit and Duran may turn into a bottom 6 guy some day, same for Kuntar. Langenbruner is not an NHL player

2021- Lysell whose done nothing but hurt his stock in recent years. Harrison, who is a 3rd line wing at his ceiling in the NHL should he reach it and a bunch of late round long shots that each has statistically and historically, less than a 10% of ever playing full time in the NHL.

As the Bruins have been pissing away all of their draft capital Since 2018 thev've only made 3 picks in the 2nd round and only 2 picks in the first.

After this year where they don't have a 1st or 2nd again, that will mean from 2018-2024 (7 draft years) the Bruins would have only made 5 picks across those 7, 1st and 2nd round drafts.

THIS IS 100% WHY THEIR FARM SYSTEM STINKS and there is no NEXT WAVE coming from Providence or anywhere else.

It would be fine if the Farm System stunk if they won, like Tampa Bay did.

From 2015-2023 Tampa went to 6 ECFS, 4 Finals and they won 2 Cups. Boston in that same time frame. 1 ECF, 1 Final, ZERO Cups

So Boston and Tampa both have crap Farm Systems today but one, Tampa Bay won A LOT and two, Tampa still has a better farm system and draft capital than Boston does, which is pathetic

8 of the last 9 years the Bruins have won a grant total of ONE, 2nd round series, ONE!!! Again, pathetic

The Bruins have won a lot of regular season games since 2015 and that's come at the expense of pissing all of their draft capital away.

That bill has final come due Bruins homers and Don Sweeney Apologists. It is what it is.

Sweeney staved it off as long as he could but his chickens have come home to roost.

Their is no "next wave" of Bruins Core players coming from Providence or anywhere else in their crap pipeline

Sweeney pissed all of their draft capital away chasing playoff chokes…..

In order for their ever to be a "next wave" of young Bruins players they would have to lose for several years running, draft high, draft well and also trade older, declining vets for younger, up and coming players and or draft capital

Seems like those things aren't likely to happen so prepare for more great regular seasons by a good two-way team under Don Sweeney that's too small, not physical enough and not skilled enough so come every post season, they get hammered and lose in an early playoff round

Better hope Sweeney hits it out the park with UFAs the next few years because there is literally next to nothing coming from the Bruins Farm System next year or for many years in the future to be honest

But don't forget the last time Don Sweeney had a lot of Cap Space he used it to sign Derek Forbort & Nick Foligno and to re-sign Grzlyck, Mike Reilly and Eric Haula. Not exactly awe inspiring Cap Spending.🤣🤣🤣

GM of the Year. No winning in the playoffs. NHL's worst draft capital. NHL's worst farm system. #GMoftheYear🤣🤣🤣🤣
