I've never saw Mark Hunter as a fit here even though his creditentials & track record would indicate that he would be. I like Keith Gretzky especially because of his past performance while he was the interim GM after Peter Chiralleli was let go mid season. I still think a up & coming ex Oiler's alumni like Shawn Horcoff currently Steve Yzerman's assistant in Detroit or Doug Weight currently in San Jose working as the director of player developement for Mike Grier would be great choices. Mark Messier once expressed interest in being GM for the Rangers but maybe his ESPN contract & situation might not make it possible. He'd be a excellent judge of talent & leader imo. Edit: Mark Messier just resigned a new contract extension with ESPN so that pretty much takes him out of the running as new GM of the Oilers.
I hope Coach Garlic 😂Knoblauch will dress Sam Gagner for at least one game (gm 3?) Because its the right thing to do. In fact I hope he utilizes his depth more in this series & dresses Adam Erne & Raphael Lavoie for a game too. Maybe not the same game but as necessary. It would be nice perchance the Oilers do win that their names are also incuded on the Stanley Cup because they played in the series. Too bad James Hamblin wasn't called up too. This series is going to be physical so Adam Erne & Raphael Lavoie can play that style should we need to add grit & reinforcements. If I was on the coaching staff i wouldn't hesitate to tell the players to go all out every shift & hold nothing back. I also wouldnt hestitate to sit players who arent giving their all & contributing in some meaningful manner. I would definitely sit Brown & Henrique a game or 2 & possibly Foegle & McLeod if they're not willing to get physical. Derek Ryan would play & sit,Carrick would play & sit same with Perry. Kane would play as long as he is healthy enough to contribute. Deharnais & Broberg would rotate or inserted as needed. Go Oilers Go.
