Leafs can't sign Tyler for to much need build a roster because 4 guys making 48 million
Does it make sense to spend half of the available $18.5M cap space on these two players when they desperately need a starting goalie and help on defense? Say they do this and have about $9M in cap space left. Signing both Domi and Bertuzzi brings the Leafs to just 18 roster players. The qualifying offers for RFAs Dewar, Liljegren and Robertson will gobble up at least $3M of that leaving just $6M for a goalie and help on D.
This basic math tells me that it is either Domi or Bertuzzi….not both,

if possible imo leafs should try and get bertuzzi and domi on another 1 year deal just in case marner doesnt wave his no trade clause then after hes off the books resign them both to multi year deals, or extend during the season if marner is moved.
Would rather Debrusk, Pence and Zodorov. These two are ok though.
If Bert is willing to take 6M x 5 I’d definitely do it. The cap is going up this season and next season. It’s estimated to go up 10 mill by the 25-26 season. You’re not resigning Marner and possibly Tavares after next season. Bert and Domi love playing together and they play the style of hockey the leafs want to play. You need to lock them both up. Cap will be tight this year but you need to move on from a guy like jarnkrok and/ Kampf. Janey to injury prone and Kampf is starting to decline. Holmberg takes Kampf place and McMann takes jarnkrok place. Then you have another 4.5 mill to work with.

These two players are much greater in playoff value than Marner. In fact – with playoff officiating – each one is worth more than Mitch in the playoffs. Mitch can’t even back check his man (Pasta) in game 7 OT. Why? 😀
Domi is good at 3.5 mill 5 yr
From rumors that leafs maybe maybe close to resign Bertuzzi to a 3 or 4 years deal at 4m to 5m aav with 12 teams no trade clause and Max Domi to a 4 or 5 years deal at 2.5m to 3.5m aav with 10 teams no trade clause and Joel Edmundson to 3 years deal at 2m to 3m aav and Liya Lyubushkin to 2 years deal at 1.5m to 2.5m aav. if true or not we will see?
Bring bert and domi back would be the worst thing trelivong could do. Leafs have 18 mil in cap and need top 4 D. He did it last year with 22mil in cap. Never addressed the top D issues. They sign I am sooooooo done with the leafs. Treliving is inept if he does this.

Personally I don’t think this makes Bertuzzi their ‘main target’, it’s old news there’s some degree of interest on both sides, that will almost always lead to a negotiation period.
Don’t be surprised if we don’t hear about Bertuzzi negations again until it’s clear he’s going to FA. But at the right price I can definitely see Brad making it work.
