It appears a New York Islanders defenseman has signed a deal to return to Europe next season. Former Isles second round draft choice Robin Salo will not stay with the organization and will play in Sweden next season. We have the latest.

Plus, The Athletic ranked all 32 NHL local broadcast teams, we discuss where the Isles team of Brendan Burke, Butch Goring, Thomas Hickey and Shannon Hogan ranked and why.

And we continue our player by player look at the Isles season with Sebastian Aho. How did he fare this season and what role will he play in 2024-25 if he’s re-signed by Lou Lamoriello?

  1. No surprise. Euros don't stay in no. america long waiting for their shot at nhl. I'd worry about ishkatov going back to russia and if odelios is going to be at camp/ahl in the fall. The louzer effect. More wasted picks on euros who louzer mishandles. Total nincompoop when it comes to developing prospects. Isles led by louzer/louzer jr/sorry ahl coaches couldn't coach a rat out of a sewer for a slice of pizza. At least louzer signed a slow as fk russian 30 goal scorer. I wonder how long tsplakov hangs around in the fall probably taking no ahl demotion. And aho is too small and mistake prone. Isles need a better bottom pair d man especially if 2 leaves as ufa. Don't worry louzer has his sights set on swiss d man a. gauzer, 28, a good transition d man who will get a one year $1.5 mil. deal.

  2. Player development, the New York Islanders don’t have a player development program, best move in that kid’s life thank you Gil spot on !!!!

  3. Good 🌄, Gil, how are you? Robin Salo, a former Islander, is going back to Sweden. I hope he'll 😂 back at 🏡. I'm not surprised that The Islanders ranked very high in broadcasters going back to the Dynasty Years with Jiggs McDonald and Eddie Westfall, and now either Brendan Burke and Butch Goring. I do miss Stan Fischler, The 🏒 Maven. The Florida Panthers have been in The NHL for 30 years, and it's a case of always the bridesmaid, but never the bride; however, The Edmonton Oilers have been in The NHL for 52 years, including The WHA, and they've won 6 Stanley Cup. Sébastien Aho, 28 years old, small for a defenseman, and it gets him into 🔥 💦 a lot. HAPPY 🎂, BRYAN MCCABE. He had a nice, career. Nice game at The Spectrum, but what would an Islander/Flyer game be without them getting physical, and especially dropping the gloves. I'm an ISLANDER FAN FIRST, LAST, AND LIFE, but I do give my props to the opposition, in this case, it's Grant Fuhr, the first NHL of color to not only win 6 Stanley Cups, one at The Islanders expense, but to be inducted into the NHL HALL OF FAME. Hear from you later, Gil, my dad used to work in Plainview at Central General Hospital not far from where your gathering, and LET'S GO ISLANDERS.

  4. Hi Gil, I wish I could come to that watch party! Unfortunately I’m in the UK for school. I enjoy the show and I hope the community grows… and I hope you would consider doing a show no matter the future of locked on. Great to hear about the broadcast team. Well deserved. And for what it’s worth, I actually really like Jack Edwards and Andy Brickley

  5. Good morning team. Gil, thank you so much for a very informative episode. I'm sure we all wish Salo the very best. Possibly we can see him again once his contract for Sweden expires. Happy Birthday Mr. McCabe. You were a fun Islander to watch. Everyone, have a wonderful Friday and Weekend! See you all again during the next episode. Until then.. Let's Go Islanders!!

  6. I'm surprised Salo didn't wait until July 1st to see if other teams would sign him. Nearly all of our D prospects sign and have success elsewhere…Ness, Burroughs, Wotherspoon etc

  7. Surprised he was not called up last season when we were very short on D-men. I guess Lou felt more comfortable at that time with Bortuzzo Reilly. Never really got a chance with the big team. Butch Goring is the greatest! LGI

  8. He figured out he would never make it at the NHL level. Good luck to Salo.

Hey Gil, here's a simple trade Lou should consider. Wahlstrom for Kaapo, straight up. They both have unrealized potential and sometimes a move unlocks that potential. It could be a win-win for the Isles and the Rangers.
