  1. If the Oilers can figure out how to get past Bob, the Panthers are doomed. Oilers outplayed them in every other way, but simply couldn't get past Bobby. Skinner started out all jittery but once he settled in after the first, he was solid.

  2. Perfect Florida-style hockey. Keep the opposition's offence to the perimeter. Keep the center of the ice in your defensive zone clear. Keep clearing the puck out of your defensive zone as quickly as possible. Be confident that your goalie will make the saves. And wait for your chances and when you get them, score. chances and when you get them, score. Florida fan for four seasons. We learned this style playing Tampa Bay, now it's our time.

  3. Really love this channel some real good commentary on strategy and fun at the same time. Great content much needed for hockey fans

  4. must be a edmoton fan because to say the oilers dominated during a 3 to 0 shutout. wow. panthers have been doing this the whole playoffs. no matter how many shots thier opponents have or time with the pucks means nothing to them. They play their game no matter what. 1st shot 1st goal thats what they are focused on! After watching most the games by every team all season I called before the playoffs started THE PANTHERS ARE GOING TO TAKE IT ALL. I'm not even a Panthers fan its just who there are! I am Bob fan. That name can't be beat!

  5. Nothing like a good analysis from our local hockey psychologist. What a beast you are at breaking down the game we all love. These top teams gotta hire you or something (or just keep doing you cause we all love your unbiased and incredibly detailed vids)

  6. Having played college-level goalie, I can say with confidence that a great goalie performance can erase shortcomings in other areas of a team playing below their usual pace. But there’s this thing called “the odds.” The oilers have odds in their favor if they keep shots on goal solidly high like in game 1.

  7. You literally spent 8 minutes sucking the Oilers off despite the fact that they got absolutely demolished the entire game. Are you stupid?

  8. God i hate this narrative. The Oilers threw everything and the kitchen sink at Florida and they still came away with 0 goals. This isnt a "solving Bobrovsky" problem, this is a "solving Florida's defense" problem. Not once were the Panthers rattled by the few breakaways they managed to let through. I feel like I watched a completely different game than everyone else because the vast majority of Edmontons chances were so non-threatening (even the breakaways were all thrown at Bob's pads lol). And you could see it in how Florida was playing… They came out expecting to get peppered. I would not be surprised to see this same thing happen next game and watch the Oilers frustration levels boil over (you could already see it in that 3rd period). The Panthers know what theyvare doing.

  9. They dominated, early, but not later. Oilers had a few long stretches without getting a shot on goal. That is what the Panthers do. Try to get a lead, then where you out with intense forechecking in the O zone, and physical play in the de zone.

  10. It’s amazing any of you think Florida isnt going to clean up their play. Game one against Boston anyone? Go Cats.

  11. Don Cherry would be screaming, "I tell you young folks out ther keep you stick blades on the ice." Especially if your a defenseman.

  12. Mcdavid and Hyman both just watching and not backchecking on that first goal was the big problem. Both McDavid and Hyman each could have stopped that first goal if they decided to backcheck with some purpose. Forecheck backcheck paycheck, not just forecheck paycheck

  13. The Bruins had Bob UP HIGH in 1st 2 games, but STOPPED and suffered! SHOOT HIGH ON BOB and you'll see a different result!

  14. Bobrovsky is a wall. Enough said. He did it to my Hurricanes in the conference final and he’ll do it to Edmonton this year. Dude is incredible

  15. not somehow… it's because all the dirty stick work is invisible to the WWE refs… if you can't match speed and skill then hack away without consequence.. slash / hack / spear from behind all night long (BTW not an Oilers fan)

  16. I thought Florida did a great job of keeping it only one shot, no rebounds/2nd chances, goaltending is so much easier when you only have to worry about the shooter and keep the majority of the shots to the perimeter, when the goalie starts off with some easy saves, it’s easier for the goalie to get in the groove

  17. Such lazy backchecking by McDavid after getting caught too deep as the F3 on that first goal.

  18. What do you mean “somehow”? It’s not a surprise that the better team top to bottom beat the team that shouldn’t be in the Final at all.

  19. Don't think Florida every played a worse playoff game this year. They have shown in the past to bounce back after bad starts so I expect a big game from them in game 2.

  20. Bob was legendary, but I don't think it's fair for the Panthers' skaters to be discredited for the value they provided. First and most importantly, they scored when the opportunity was there. The Oilers got goalied, but they also shot low a ton even though everyone has been saying that Bob is hard to beat low, and in the end, they never made a shot that couldn't be saved. Also, the Panthers were pretty efficient at clearing any rebounds Bobrovsky couldn't cover, and every time there was a breakaway, it was rushed and bothered by a defender in pursuit. In the third period, Florida's trap really picked up and the Oilers had the life drained from them every minute that passed. Bob deserves all the credit he's getting, for sure, but the skaters supplemented his performance by playing less aggressively as the game continued since they had the lead, which naturally looks like they weren't controlling the play.
