[NHL Watcher] Friedman on TJMS: “The market is good for the heavier, depth forwards, like I heard those four names, Dakota Joshua, William Carrier, Martinook, Noesen, like the market for those four guys is going to be really good”

This is unfortunate news for us because we could use a player exactly like them. So could every team though. I am very willing to overpay for one of these guys on a 2-3 year deal but they shouldn’t do anything stupid.

Until the Sabres prove they can be a consistent playoff team we’re probably going to have to overpay for players specifically depth forwards
Green_hippo17
So take those guys out of the discussion because with the cap rising they gonna get fuckin paid

Water is wet. Of course the market will be good for good players, especially with a $5 cap increase

Everyone talking about overpay.. how about we just get to a decent place above the salary cap floor

If we have to, then we must. Ideally, the bottom 6 guys are already on our team and that takes place by trading for top 6 talent and push down the tweeners to an easier role

The Oilers’ 4th line has a 33.3% goal share, an 27.3% expected goal share, and a 34.8% unblocked shot share this postseason whereas the Panther’s 4th line has a 0% goal share, a 35.7% expected goal share, and a 28.3% unblocked shot share (all data is from money puck). The lesson should be to invest assets in high end players at the top of the lineup who raise your ceiling as having a 4th line that gets caved in nightly doesn’t stop you from making the finals.
