Jim Montgomery on Charlie McAvoy’s leadership and performance in the Bruins 2:1 win over the Panther
I think it’s a quality of people in our dressing room starts with our captain then we have two assistants and then we have our subgroup underneath that and then we have a goenda um gives confidence like people read his quotes and we know he believes it Jim um what did you see or what were you thinking on the uh on when they were going to the video and what does it mean for Charlie to to to get a goal given his importance to your team yeah I mean um my thoughts were make sure you send the right message to the bench no matter what happens hey we got to get one on the power play or let’s just keep playing next play next shift um because you know it hasn’t been going our way um and it was nice that one did you know back to Steve’s question a big part of that first period was getting out from under their forche they giving you such a hard time about that what what was the key to that for you get out from under the pressure um winning 101 battles winning the support numbers um we call it goal line races they’re a real good team at it um we think we’re a good team at it and they’ve been beating us to those spots that don’t allow us to get out and allow us the easy transitions that lead to entries like you saw us have tonight Jim I just wanted to follow on Matt’s question just to to see Charlie break through um what you felt for him how big that goal was how big that moment was for him yeah I mean I thought you know game four Charlie asserted himself really well maybe he wasn’t as clean as with the puck as we usually see him but that big hit on Reinhardt you know he’s extremely competitive um he’s kind of quiet like doesn’t say much but you could see him talking a lot tonight on the bench and his play was um instrumental and our victory
