Funny enough, manny people argued the cats did not deserve the first win. But if you take a look at how the series has played out up to now, it's pretty clear that even in the first game the Oilers have fallen victim to the cats strength: They cozy the Oilers along, and then brutally capitalize on their mistakes in an instant. They do not need to outshoot the Oilers. They have better defense, better goaltending and better transition game.
Looking exclusively on the "deserved to win meter" on moneypuck, is to misunderstand the dynamics of this series, as this metric does not take defensive play into account at all

I was unable to watch this game. My medical treatments are on Monday's and Thursday's and it wrecks me. I'm going stricktly by stats. The base stats are pretty much a wash. Slight advantages to Oilers in some categories, slight to Florida in others. By the looks of things other than 2 assists for Connor the big boys didn't show up (Draisaitl, Nuge, Bouchard, Hyman) on the score line. Depth (McLeod, Broberg, Foegele) did show up. Weird but whatever. Oilers now MUST win 4 in a row to take the cup and are facing elimination. Take care all.

The last 9 minutes of the 3rd period is how they should have played the whole game. Obviously that didn’t happen. It is what it is.
Game 1 is the only game oilers looked like the dominant team. They got wolloped one sidedly in game 2. They looked competative in game 3 but they did not looked better than florida. Brobergs goal was a super fluke. A missed shot goes off Mikkolas elbow or bicep while he is guarding someone else. Talk about 1 in a million shot that would have missed or been blocked every other time. Oilies best goal was Ryan Mcleod deflection of kulaks shot. But after looking at Bennets reaction you could tell that was his man on that play and screwed up. Florida is just built to beat teams up. They are a Defence first, suffocate the opponent team.

Panthers first line played oilers 4th line, need to stay out of the penalty box. McDavid and snipers need to score, maybe change the goalie? lots of improvement needed for sure. Defense isn't good enough.
Congratulations you actually provided the best coverage, and the most heart felt appreciation for an opponent just out playing you… I have learned to hate Canadian Hockey coverage in this Cup final, it's all about what the Oilers didn't do, nothing to do with the Panthers doing something, you actually gave credit to the Panthers, shocking!
This is the worst final I can remember. The Oilers have been a no show, and the Panthers have just kicked their asses in every part of the game. Its over.
For the love of god INJECT SAM GAGNE! guy has never played an game in the playoffs for the Oilers and now to have a chance to play for them in the finals and spark some MUCH NEEDED ENERGY would be beyond foolish to not inject him being down 3 – 0 anyways. Guaranteed hes a factor if he plays from his energy. Also play PICARD for the love of god! Those 2 changes absolutely must happen for Game 4! If not this team is toast! Id also play Ben Gleason instead of Nurse at this point too way too many mistakes shake this lineup up and get some healthy black aces in that are waiting on the sidelines!!!
Bobrovsky is hot, Skinner is not. Put Pickard in for game 4, beef up the lines Desharlais, Carrick and roll the dice

Have to stick with skinner. Pichard wont even be with the oilers next year. Plus he’s not an NHL goalie. He’s proven that. They have to get a #1 guy which won’t be easy, to do that they have to dump a lot of salary, and that also won’t be easy.
I have been saying all along sadly I knew goaltending would be our downfall. GO OILERS!

The Oilers made mistakes and every mistake they made, Panthers scored. Yes Skinner shouldn't have misplayed the put but Hollaway never should have let tarasenko go all by himself to the front of the net when you PASS Kulak and there is no defensive help. Bouchard makes a terrible play and Ekholm doesn't tie up Reinhart and Nurse made a TERRIBLE play to try and give Broberg the puck by the boards which I have NO idea why you would do that with three panthers around you and not just getting it out. The breakaway goal I didn't see what happened there so not going to comment on that. Like I said, 3 to 4 mistakes, all goals. Can make mistakes like that and expect to win still. I don't know why everyone hates on Skinner. He made some GREAT saves to keep the Oilers down, the misplayed goal was partially his fault and maybe he should have stopped a breakaway but he is NOT the problem. Oilers goals were not from mistakes but from hard work by the Oilers so nice to see them battle until the end. I would like to see a reverse sweep now please. GO OILERS GO.
