Two years ago today (June 17, 2022), John Tortorella was named head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers. His tenure has been filled with funny quotes, several controversies, a suspension, and all the typical Torts shenanigans.
It seems as if Tortorella is part of the brain trust and the long term rebuild plan, whether as bench boss or something else.

Only 17 NHL players have a 10m aav or more. 12 of them are forwards. From greatest Cap hit to least…
MacKinnon, McDavid, Panarin, Pettersson, Nylander, Pastrnak, Tavares, Marner, Huberdeau, Barkov, Eichel.
If Briere and Jones add Konecny to THAT list with The Flyers in the place that they are.
To me, you have to question where this team is going in the future and if giving this organization any of your hard earned money is worth your time anymore at this point.
This truly shows how The Flyers management view their city and fans. Regardless of what they say or the image they attempt to perpetuate.
Konecny to Utah for their 6th overall pick ?
Or to Anaheim for Zegras?
Or to L.A. for a 2025 1st, Turcotte, and maybe Kaliyev?
Or to Ottawa for the 7th overall and Pinto?
Konecny, Laughton, and Sanheim are probably the best trade candidates that this team can get valuable potential future Elite peices from.
Yeah the fans basically know The Flyers management will overpay Konecny AND leave this team void of Cap space AGAIN for a player who just plain and simple is NOT Elite or a player anywhere NEAR the level of a 10m player in this league. Shows clear incompetence.
That's why NHL articles STILL call Philadelphia Flyers the "butt of everyone's jokes" in the NHL at the end of arricles laughing at the incompetence of overpaying a player THAT extremely that will almost SURELY degrade into a 50 point guy in his 30s IF he can stay healthy.
Flyers fans need to keep kicking that not living horse.
The EXACT WRONG coach for the Rebuild EVERYONE insinuated Flyers fans were going to get and clearly wanted. Why would you want to take a team that is FINALLY going to bottom after Decades of playoff early exits and CLEAR upsets due to lack of talent.
That has had NO luck or skill drafting in years and make them a mediocre team again. 🤦🏻♂️

Torts has been great. He is the most positive thing to happen to the Flyers.
