NJ doesn’t have anyone I would want. Rather keep Saros and extend him.
I don’t care about the 10th pick in this draft.
If you are going to trade him then trade to Toronto for Manor.
Mercer, Casey and a 2nd is a strong return for the Preds. They can push for the 10th overall pick too but that may be in lieu of Casey and a 2nd. Saros isn't worth as much as people think. His contract is terming and he'll want a raise, he's smallish in stature, and he also shrinks in the playoffs as evidenced by his performance this past postseason. Trade him, call up Askarov, and sign a decent veteran who can start up to 40 games as his tandem partner.
The best way to build a team is not from "the crease out". Goalies are drafted later for a reason. You build down the middle, and on the blue line. Paying Saros 8.5M, while the roster is incomplete will prevent the Preds from getting scoring help/depth. 2017 was supposed to be a "weak draft" too.
I think they are opening up the market by offering up draft picks they are looking for Markstom.

Having a small Dman makes about as much sense as a NFL team having a 5'8" 170 ilb lineacker. Emma is the only person in so called hockey journalist fan world who gets it.
Someone really smart will draft Carter Yakemchuk really early. So it won't be the preds with the worst scouts in the NHL. Dallas will find some way to draft him.

I agree can trotz get a huge haul for saros. The idea of signing him and then running him and asky they could have a ullmark swayman combo in the making. From watching asky in Milwaukee and preseason he's close but not no1 starter on a playoff team close. I’m not interested in ANOTHER draft pick. We have stockpiled draft picks and a decent core around Saros, Forsberg, and Josi.
With what we have on our roster and in our pipeline we are absolutely not going to be anywhere near a cup contender within Saros' career never mind his prime! Trade Saros! Get as much as you can, not because he's worth it, but because we desperately need it, but don't hold out for an absurd amount, just get it done!
I disagree. As a scout for Draft Prospects Hockey it’s a very good class. A lot of really good defenders, sprinkled in with really good forwards some are raw, and solid goalies. -Jersey Joe, Trey Matthews’ draft and prospect expert.
10th and Jack Hughes is no deal, they can keep Saros!
10th pick and Nemec could work. A lot of people don't give this kid enough credit but a perfect guy to grow your team with.
I hope all of you are right snd no trade happens no way does he return Nemec and he shouldn't get Mercer….If the 10th is offered you are crazy not to deal him I hope you sign him be better in doing what you did with PR and Saros but us and having to extend him pass
devils fan here, great podcast, i never hated the preds and the jerseys are probably my personal favorite beside the devils reverse retro's from last season. i agree with emma on this that i dont think the devils are going to get saros for just the pick, i think that that idea is not realistic to me, i know mercer has been thrown around as well as other names and the pick and personally i dont think thats a move fitzy makes either. and for this reason, i really dont think saros comes to NJ, id personally love to have him, who wouldnt? he is a fantastic goalie and ive met the guy and even though i wasnt a preds fan he was more than willing to have a short convo with me just about hockey and took a picture with me, and i appreciated that a lot. hes a stand up guy! and its sad that a saros deal wont happen. so our search continues, i personally think markstrom and ullmark are probably the top 2 goalies on fitzy's list of potential trade targets. but the draft gets closer each and every day and we get closer to finding out what will happen. best of luck in the offseason and next season except when playing the devils of course lol
