Shade under $8M for a goaltending duo is perfectly fine if you can get above average play from them. Definite if with this tandem, though.

  2. danstymusic

That’s a great deal! Did not expect to see him sign this offseason. Especially for a relatively low price.

  3. rageharles

wow i fully thought he was gone in favor of reshuffling journeyman depth players. love to see this

  4. Did NOT expect this, very sick

Interested to see now if Jarry gets shopped at all

  5. I am so hard right now. I’m actually surprised that the Pens were able to resign him.

In a vacuum I like this. In practicality though that’s a lot for a goalie tandem where one of the guys isn’t an out and out stud. I’m fine with Ned, but I firmly believe Jarry is simply not capable of being a go to NHL goalie. The sample is large enough to draw that conclusion.

  7. To be honest I’d be fine with a Jarry cap dump at this point. I don’t love having $8 mil tied up in two guys I don’t fully trust. Ned and a young guy or another solid 1B type would be fine if it cost less and we could reallocate that money elsewhere.

  8. This means nothing regarding Jarry. The only thing this means is we’re not seeing Blomqvist this year unless there’s an injury.

  9. Cheeks_Klapanen

That’s about as high as I would have gone for him. Kind of confirms Blomqvist is staying in WBS for at least another year, but that’s fine. A little extra seasoning never hurt anybody.

So I’m not anti or pro Jarry, I’m perfectly neutral. But I kind of thought that he would be teamed up with Blomqvist here soon. Now I think, especially with the rumors they weren’t happy with Jarry at the end of the year, that maybe there’s a real possibility they look to trade him.

  11. sextoymagic

Hell yeah! Blocks Bloom sadly. But maybe a Jarry trade comes.

I can’t express how good this move is. He’s such a solid goalie in a league where having a good pairing is almost near impossible. At 2.5M for 2 years???? What a steal.

  13. XGuiltyofBeingMikeX

    Fuck, that’s such a deal.

Also, seeing what goalies have gone for in the past two days…it’s now or never to move Jarry. He’s worth more than the other two guys who just got traded

  14. Love this, absolutely love this. Welcome back Ned !!!

  15. Kadaththeninja_

Wow I’m honestly surprised he didn’t wait for like a 3×3.5 or something, nice to hear he’s staying

  16. _nopucksgiven

Really shocked he signed for $2.5 I thought for sure he could’ve got 3-3.5 in free agency

  17. This makes Yohe’s article today not look great.

  18. itsmnemotime

Jarry heading to columbus as part of a laine deal

  19. Steaknkidney45

Ned was a good addition. That late season surge undoubtedly clinched it.

  20. HooHooHaHa

Have nothing against Jarry but this move means you almost have to move him to have cap space to fill out other needs in the lineup

  21. Super good deal

These type of contracts ultimately likely the second best type of goalie contracts in the league, behind the 5M$ ullmark ones

Cap hits around 10M $ usually a mixed bag

  22. Ive seen zero talk about Jarry potentially being moved except from Pens fans. Hes objectively better than Markstrom, but on a worse contract at 4 years. Doubt he gets moved unless its a hockey trade and we gamble on another player probably also on a bad contract

This is a great signing. From the looks of the other comments it seems I’m in the minority but I think keeping Jarry and playing these guys as a 1A/1B tandem is better than shipping Jarry. Both guys played well last year in a similar role and I believe it’s in large part because they were getting good rest. Ned hasn’t proven he can be the guy yet (although I think he is capable).
