A sign and trade including Marner and Dobson would be an amazing move for the Leafs.

Why would the Islanders make that trade? Right shot D that puts up points, for an 11M Jonny Gaudreau without the goals….dont see it. My God, if they extend Marner I just can no longer be a fan of such an insane loser team!!
Im not crazy about getting rid of Marner, but Dobson is exactly what they need. You throw in a 1st, and yeah 100% do it.

It will be hard to win a Marner trade. Leafs should resign him at a reasonable price. With Brodie and Gio, and technically Klingberg all coming off the cap they can sign a decent defender
People tend to forget the leafs are owned by Rogers Co. They have ZERO reason to really listen to fans, over the last 8 years. No matter how "fed up" we get as fans, we always sell out the games and pay the high prices for the tickets and merch. They still make their money no matter how good or bad the team does, giving them zero reasons to listen to the fans. They know they'll get our money in the end. WE HAVE to start speaking with our WALLET over X/Twitter. It's the only way they'll truly feel it sadly. just my thoughts tho. ..

I'm ok giving Marner an extension as long as his next deal does not have a NMC. We can't give him full control over what we decide to do in the future.
Trade update: new speculative rumour we discuss. That said, I would gladly send Marner (sign and trade if that makes it work) and Liljegren traded to the Islanders for Dobson (with an extension signed) and Horvat. If they won't give the Leafs Horvat then I'd take Pageau and a first only if they don't have to retain anything against the cap.
