Please, someone give me a dead serious response that you are still fully on board with and trust what Yzerman is doing after his cap management these last couple years.

Edit: point proven. This fanbase is actually straight up brainwashed. Embarrassing.

!RemindMe 3 years when Yzerman is fired

I mean Ghost, Ed and Chiarot would be a fine trio of LHD. Walman didn’t move the needle aside from his random goal hot streaks. He was also injured towards the end of the year – there could potentially be concerns about that.

I’m not onboard with the “future considerations” return, but we needed a cap dump and he was the only player who seemed worth it at his salary. No one wanted Holl (don’t blame em) or Chiarot at his number.

Surely they don’t mean the “offensive” defensemen with 1 goal down the stretch? That Gostisbehere?

  4. If trading Gibson and Walman equate to Kane (PPG) and Ghost (same point total as Erik Karlsson 13th highest for D man) extensions then I can live with it

Not my ideal scenario but Ghost was the best PP QB we had since Green possibly Rafalski

  5. SpiritBamba

I’d rather just move on from him too but oh well.

Not this biggest Ghost fan. He’s good on the PP and offensive side but we sucked with defense last year and ghost is not a good defender. I don’t want to get locked into a long contract, high AAV with him. But that’s just me.

OP is having a temper tantrum, and it’s the funniest thing 🤣

If you’re going to get this worked up, put the pacifier back in your mouth and get off the internet for the day.

Nope, not a fan. Gonna go back and cite [these sentiments](https://www.reddit.com/r/DetroitRedWings/s/plfNrgBkyc) at the end of the season.

Perhaps Kane goes and we can still make a splash with what would’ve been used towards his AAV but in essence we may have just traded a promising big RHD prospect, a 2nd rounder and Jake Walman to keep Ghost.

  9. Yay

A 3rd pair defensmen who plays about 1:30 of every single power play, who is a defensive liability at 5v5

What the fuck are we doing?

We need to resign Perron so we can keep him on PP1 as well.

  10. Did we just give up 28 yr old Walman in order to extended 30 yr old Ghost long term? And still block Johansson? Because if that’s what happens, the Yzerplan looks cooked to me.

As clutch as he was against MTL, Ghost got some of the cushiest minutes in the league and was still a net negative to the team +/- wise. The man cannot play D.

  11. BellsBeersy

So did we drop Walman because we really really wanted to keep Ghost

Isn’t it possible that trading Walman and this are not 1:1 related? This just says that they are still in talks.

Don’t ever take Lebrun seriously. He states the obvious and gives you bunch of word salad. Every team technically has been talking to their pending UFAs except for the ones that have been explicitly told that they are going to test FA

  14. Anishinabeg

I swear to god if we dumped Walman for nothing to pay Gostisbehere $6M+, I’m gonna be so disappointed.

  15. Unstep-in-Time

I still get goosebumps thinking about his leap that kept us in playoff contention.

  16. If we lose Walman and Ghost I doubt we can replace that.

  17. SikkWithIt

More curious about Kane. I know they’re hung up on term. Kane wants 3 and Yzerman wants 2.

Hoping we can resign Ghost though. Made some big plays for us down the stretch and hoping this is just the start with him in the D.

Gotta think if we had had Kane at the start of the season ( meaning he was in the form then that he was when he started playing ) the wings would have had a few more wins and would have been in the playoffs. Still not built for the grind, but he’s one piece of the puzzle.
Question is do you pay Kane and think you can get the rest of the pieces around him in the next three years to contend for a cup? I have doubts. But I’ll stick around for the ride.

  19. Fuck it 😂

Sign him to a 6 year deal

    Defensive blackhole and all lol.
