Canada’s Stanley Cup Drought: 31 Years And Counting

  1. The sick thing is a Canadian team should be winning a cup every 4.5 years and should be in the finals almost every other year just by the numbers.

  2. Sportsnet preemptively made this video knowing the script has a Canadian team winning next year

  3. The largest percentage of NHL players remains Canadian, and the teams- composed of the best from all over the hockey world- are named after cities, not countries. This is a false controversy.

  4. Not sure why the media makes such a big deal about this. It's not like all of Canada gets behind every Canadian team that makes the finals. In fact, I'd wager 99 percent are not cheering for the Canadian team unless it's their own.

  5. Out of all those teams, the 2011 Canucks had the best chance to win until they self destructed in game 3, got blown out in game 4 and 6, and ultimately lost in game 7.
Both the Canucks and Oilers lost twice in game 7 final. Which team will make it the third time? And will the third time be charmed?

  6. Let’s keep it real, with the majority of the league based in America, the odds are always stacked against the cup coming back to Canada. If they really want it happen, they probably need to add a dozen of Canadian teams to even the playing field 😂

  7. Like I've been saying since forever….no Canadian team will win the cup until the Leafs break their curse. 😂

  8. “BuT tHe WiNnInG TeAm HaS cAnAdIaN pLaYeRs” 🥴

That is such a pathetic consolation prize to brag about. Plenty of Americans on the Jays and Raptors championship teams and only 1-2 Canadians. Didn’t seem to bother anyone so you can’t have it both ways.

There’s no “Stanley Cup drought” in:

    New Zealand for Rugby
    Japan for Baseball
    Australia for Aussie Rules
    India for Cricket
Brazil, Argentina, England, etc for Soccer

Sharing a league of your favorite sport with a richer, far more powerful country will go down as one of the biggest mistakes in world sport.

  9. It doesn't matter where edmonton is on a map. Never supporting them. So tired of this overblown narrative of Canada not getting a cup. This ain't the olympics.

  10. I always root for Canadian teams (except Toronto) when my Avs and NYR are out of it. I was very disappointed with the last 2 seasons.

  11. Canada does not have a drought considering lots of the NHL are Canadian players. The franchises have a drought because the US franchises simply do it better. And there’s more of them. The entire country has as many people as the state of Texas.

  12. All things being equal, the odds of a Canadian team NOT winning in a 30 year period is 1.4%. Clearly this game tilts south.

  13. What does anyone expect? We've got 7 teams in the NHL – How about them odds? Don't exactly look all that great, do they. Doesn't help our chances when we get two Canadian teams battling against in each other in the playoffs, either. Regardless, half of nearly every team in the league are Canadian boys, the Cup comes this way, anyways. Sure, would be nice to have any one of our teams win the damn thing, but again, how about those odds? Argue that when The States have 25.

  14. Probably doesn't help that there is only 7 Canadian teams compared to 25 American teams. With that said Canada teams just choke in the finals 😂. Florida teams 3-0 against Canada teams since 2000 🌴🥥 🐈 🏒 🥅 ☀️ ⚡ 😎💪

  15. Since no "canada" team is made 100% from canadian players – there is no such thing as canadian team in nhl, also, you all in the same league

  16. There are 7 Canadian teams out of 32 total. And several of them are in the same division(s) which more or less ensures they will be forced to eliminate one another in earlier playoff rounds. Inequitable taxation exists across the border, with no regional salary cap adjustments to effectively level the ice. There is also better weather down South. This challenge is not insurmountable, but it is significant. Just remember: Hockey is Canada. Canada is hockey. There is no hockey outside of Canada, and there is no Canada outside of Hockey. The Cup will always find it's way back home.

  17. There is no money to be made when Canadian hockey clubs win Canada's Stanley Cup which is why the NHL hired the Sleazy ex-used car salesman/Bobblehead Gary Bettman as the Commissioner of the NHL and need to have their own hockey trophies and get rid of the Canadian hockey clubs from the NHL league that is all American Sport Entertainment business and not a Sport that it was in Canada before the Americans took over.
