  1. Walman out…..SY may be after Rasmus Andersson, still two years left on his deal. Seider then Andersson as the two top RHD may be interesting. May explain the Gibson move who is also right handed.

  2. Walman?! And we still have Holl and Petry???? COME ON
I get that Chairot was a great pairing with Seider at the end and with Edvinsson coming up juggling the pairing was hard to make work but i didn't see this coming. There better be big moves happening.

  3. As a Hawks fan I watched quite a few Wings fames this year mainly because of Kane, DeBrincat, and Chicago area Native JT Compher. As an outsider, I think Yzerman has been doing a great job. He inherited a team that basically had Larkin and Nothing else. Now the team is competitive with #1 ranked prospect pool in the NHL. and that's not even getting a top 5 pick. Yzerman is building a team to contend every year. So be patient Detroit fans. The Stanley Cup will be in the Motor City soon

  4. first detroit fleeces nashville out of a 2nd, then gets fleeced to get rid of walman. so overall a net 0 day for the wings

  5. Sharks waited a year to evaluate. Now they start carving their identity and add vets with the new splash of talent coming in.

  6. Great move by Grier! It makes up for claiming Goodrow off waivers for free last week…where it looks like the Sharks could’ve received a 2nd round pick for absorbing the cap hit.

Oh well, Walman should improve the defense and the Sharks acquire a free 2nd round pick. Feels like a win!

  7. Do you think the Sharks may try to package the #14 and any number of the 2nd rounders to get into the top 5?

  8. I don't understand why he needed to add a 2nd to get rid of Walman. If anything, you'd think they could have got a second for Walman…

  9. I wonder what the chances are of there being some kind of GPS device in the base of the Cup? Then again there's probably two spares in a vault somewhere.

  10. I hate the Walman trade. He was a strong strong player. Our top line defenseman with Seider. Quality guy and young. Really sucks to lose him

  11. This is a Win for the Sharks. A low risk big reward type of move. San Jose won't be contending while this kid is under contract, so the cap hit won't hurt them. Awesome to get a 2nd rounder to take on this salary.

  12. This is going to be one of those situations where we all think Yzerman is crazy, they already had plenty of cap space. Then in a couple days he will do something big like trade for Hellebuyck and we will all go “oh, that’s why.”

  13. …and there goes my favourite Red Wing in Walman – for absolutely nothing. The only thing that will make me OK with this is playoffs. I think this is the make or break season for the Yzerplan.

  14. Yzerman better have a plan because Walman was an excellent player who we dumped for nothing. Not happy with this at all.

  15. Normally don’t comment on videos but I just wanted to thank you because I’ve learned so much in the little time I’ve been watching your videos.

My uncle was born in Gran Rapids (we live in OK though) so we’ve always loved the Red Wings. I think all their dogs have been named after them lol

I didn’t really get into hockey until 22-23 and even though I knew a decent amount I was still confused for a bit. Now I’m watching videos like this and know what’s going on 😂

So thank you. I enjoy the games so much more now that I’m understanding everything better 🥰

  16. Two defensemen will be joining the Wings from GR next season.
One is Edvinsson and the other is Johansson who is no longer waiver exempt.
Everyone clamoring about how Yzerman could have gotten rid of other defensemen but in reality he couldn't since it cost him a second round pick to get rid of a decent player on a decent contract.
So imagine what it would have took to get rid of a bigger contract for a lesser player.
Another thing to consider is the trade is still open and could expand to include other players and picks.

  17. Does Detroit go after stamkos now? 100% this trade is part of a bigger move to come

  18. The red wings have high expectations for a couple young LHD in Simon Edvinsson and Albert Johansson so they needed roster space too.

It is unfortunate they had to add an asset to move Walman, but cap space is gold in this age.
