While the possibility of an NHL team in Arizona again is years away, it got us thinking: Should the Coyotes rebrand if and when an NHL team returns to the desert?

The Phoenix Firebirds were the AAA baseball team that played in the Valley before the arrival of the Diamondbacks. But I like the name and logos. But if the bird gets too hot, would it melt the ice? đ€Ł
Let them be the coyotes
this shouldn't even be a hypothetical question
will never happen.
But do go on.
Either Phoenix Coyotes or Arizona Phoenix.
Phoenix Ice Mongrels
This question isnât asked in Seattle about their Sonics! Sure, the Sonics had a longer and more successful history in Seattle, than the Coyotes did in AZ. One title, a couple finals appearances, multiple playoffs. But, when the NBA comes back to Seattle, they will be the Sonics!
You have at least ten years to contemplate this.
Personally, with all of the bad juju over the years and different owners.. and dealing with the local cities.. my gut tells me the NHL is done in the desert much like MLB and Montreal. The Yotes had great plans here.. but the local polticians never showed them one drop of love. We need to remember.. the NHL owned the team for about 4 years. I'm not sure that the NHL was using Alex to just gracefully exit the valley.
No need to overthink this. Coyotes forever. I was a North Stars fan I can tell you that my entire family would do anything to have that name back vs the Wild. There is a reason they wear those throwback jerseys. I grew up in Arizona for the record and our classic jerseys are one of the best in league history. Donât fix what isnât broke when it comes to the team name and logo. Ducks and Kings just went back to the 90âs as a rebrand because it works.
No…Coyotes FOREVER
The problem with the Firebirds name is that the Coachella AHL team is the Firebirds and I would think there would be confusion with their affiliation with them.
Not sure why you want to worry about this 20 years in the future. Atlanta and Houston will get expansion. Phx will not get expansion until those cities are settled AND a stadium is under construction. I'm sorry but its the truth.
If Coyotes isnât brought back, I could accept Pumas or Mountain Lions are the branding. Firebirds feel a bit redundant with the Suns
No. Name them the Coyotes, but Iâll be ok with a different logo
Donât even bring them back if weâre talking rebrand
SCORPIONS đŠ
The Arizona Phoenix đŠâđ„
What about keeping the logo and change the name to the Desert Dogs?
Any name is good but Howler needs to be the mascot.
Arizona Moon Dogs
No. I'm not a hockey fan, but the Coyotes Kachina logo is the best fucking logo in sports, hands down.
Isnât that taken by cochella valley
Firebirds are too retro, we had a baseball team years ago with that name. Let's move on.
When the head clown announced the AZ Clown was deactivating the Coyotes, didnât the head clown say something like â we wonât answer any. What if questions?â After a reporter as what if he loses the auction. So at some point the Head Clown, must have considered the AZ Clown would either lose the auction, not bid on the auction, or it would be delayed. If he did, it considered the scenarios, then heâs a bigger clown than he already is!
I like the Arizona Scorpions. That works real well and it's a tough name! I also like the Rattlers.
Coachella Valley Firebirds (AHL) already exists
Sun Dogs, as the minor league team once was, and successful too.
