The Hockey Writers: Fernström is one of the better shooters in this year’s draft class. He can wire the puck with his wrist shot, but his one-timer and slapshot are excellent, too. I’d call him more of a shooter than a playmaker, but he’s a solid passer with good vision and awareness.

Drance: Really auspicious scoring profile. Evaluators seem to view him as the highest upside guy remaining on the board.

Cam Robinson: With the first pick of their draft, the Canucks take Melvin Fernstrom. The feet aren't great. Plays a bit soft. But the kid knows how to jack points. Didn't make our top 134

    We’ve nailed our third round picks so far under Allvin. D-Petey and Brzustewicz were home runs and Mynio had a really good season too.

    I don’t know a thing about this guy but he’s a Swede third rounder so he’s a guaranteed steal

    Pretty highly rated offensive skills apparently. High upside but obviously not a complete player, I like going with upside this late in the draft though and of course he’s a Swede too.

    I was kind of hoping they’d take Hiroki Gojsic (who went to Nashville with the next pick). Big kid from Langley who averaged a point a game in the second half of the WHL season for Kelowna. But this kid looks promising too

    Have no idea who this guy is. But as a fan I hope this works out for the team. Been lots of activity but the Canucks aren’t in any of them it seems. Perhaps they’ve got things lined up in a few days when free agency begins.
