I’m out until they’re in the 3rd round or one of the core is moved.

None of this matters one way or another. Everyone will talk as if he is staying until the moment he isn’t in the roster.

If they were trying to trade him they wouldn’t talk shit about him.

Twitter and reddit are gonna be upset with this

  4. They didn’t trade him last year because of a new GM. They didn’t trade him this year because they got a new coach. Next year they won’t let him go because they’re going to get a new President and Tavares’ contract will also come off the books.

Isn’t Berube supposed to push him out and call him a dweeb or something

  6. He doesn’t have character at all! Doesn’t Berube know that he negotiated tough with the team and didn’t play for free despite growing up a Leafs fan? Poor character! Not like the high character Nylander, who also held out (but actually missed regular season games). He has high character because his contract didn’t up being as high as Marners.

(Can you tell I hate 90% of this Reddit? Lol)

    Irrational Marner haters:

“WHY WON’T THE NEW COACH PUT HIM ON BLAST IN FRONT OF THE MEDIA AND TELL US HE’S GONE? IT’S AS IF HURTING MARNER’S FEELINGS ISN’T BERUBE’S NUMBER 1 PRIORITY”

I’m looking forward to taking a break from the subreddit, when july 1st and the first few days of free agency pans out. If you all want to keep bitching on Marner all summer, feel free. He either gets traded for something that helps the team or he’s retained. He has a NMC, he can use it, he doesn’t owe the fans anything.

He isn’t going to sign a new contract without any trade protection, he’s not obligated to do so. The Leafs aren’t going to pressbox him for two months to make him play ball. The outcomes the Leafs get will be the outcomes Marner is willing to accept. The end.

Obviously means Marner is the big RHD acquisition we’ve been waiting for

  11. I’m sure he is a good guy and all. That’s never been my problem with Marner. My issue is how much 4 guys are taking up in the salary cap.

  12. Berube isn’t coaching a theoretical Leafs team, he’s coaching the one he has in front of him. The one in front of him has Marner in it. End of story.

This statement doesn’t mean anything. Berube isn’t the one making trade pitches and negotiations. He has to work with what he has, and whether fans like it or not, Marner is one of those pieces until further notice.

The problem is that the top 4 forwards make too much money while not performing in the playoffs. Whatever, I don’t care. we’re running it back and Marners walking, and I don’t care. If I say that I don’t care again, will It be real?

  14. They’re not trading Marner. Management isn’t stupid enough to trade away a perennial 100 point player who statisitcally elevates every teammate he plays with just because the most hyperbolic fanbase in the league has decided to make him the scapegoat for the team not winning a tournament that is no more predicatble than a series of coin flips.
