  1. This is how you control the cost of your core for 8 years… Leafs fans, take notes!

  2. As a Montréal fan, this contract is a great move.

If Juraj exceeds the value of this deal like I believe he can it will be one of the best deals in the league.

If he cant live up to 7 mil, we aren't gonna win anything anyway, so who cares.

  3. Sdpn did an episode on the core 4 of other team lately…Montréal it's gonna be below 30 millions. Cap management is next level and Slafkovsky is becoming a next level monster, an archetype that doesn't exist in the league at his age and he kept going in the world championship this spring ! Imagine that core with Demidov, healthy Dach, Hutson and Reinbacher…futur is bright !

  4. This is going to turn out to be a good deal based on his play in the second half last year projecting into this year with possible improvement

  5. I loved Slafkovsky before. Him signing this contract is absolutely perfect. Mad respect for not demanding more.
    Now Kaiden Ghule turn 🙂

  6. Slavkosky is a 3rd liner playing on the first line choking the offense of Caulfield.
This was a very ugly signing from a group of executives who don't have a clue wtf they are doing.
    F the Habs.
    I'm out.
    Go Flyers.

  7. He was deserving 8m$ in my opinion. Great power forward, great potential scorer, good defensively. He at least was deserving an equal amount as Caufield!

  8. Pretty much how his season went was, first 25-30 ish games he was with Newhook and Anderson who had a line shooting percentage of like 3% or something ridiculous like that. Like I think Anderson had 5 breakaways from Slaf in a 3 game span and missed all of them. It was BAD. There were constantly options for open space created that weren’t capitalized on because Newhook and Anderson couldn’t recognize the patterns (Newhook is not a centre definitively)

Then he gets put with Caufield and Suzuki, putting him with players who are able to be read by Slaf made such a difference because they were able to take advantage of the space he created, were able to pass to inside space and not cramp up the side of the ice on the breakout, and board battles he won way more effectively.

Elite Prospects did and amazing video on it

  9. You now that you listen to a great show when even the analyst of other fan base praise your gm, salary cap or your rookies. Thx SDPN! Let's freaking go habs go!!!

  10. Armia/Dvorak contracts ending this season will free up cap space, enough cap space for an other contract of that size without doing anything.

Sadly Montreal is still stuck with Anderson and Gallagher, they’ll become a real problem soon enough, possibly slowing the window to truly open.

Once the new Coyotes equivalent is determined (where contracts goes to die), the Canadiens are reserving a table for two.
