@Montreal Canadiens

This is such a good deal..

OK Guys, the Montreal Canadiens have officially signed 2022 first overall pick Juraj Slafkovsky.. to a deal which in my opinion was fantastic… Not only does Slafkovsky make less than the likes of Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield.. But this was just a low risk deal that the Canadiens will reap the benefits from down the road! Let’s break this one down!

  1. Dont get me wrong, I LOVE SLACK. He made gigantic progresses last seasons. He basically shut everyone's mouths. But he didn't proove anything. So this contract is too early and is gambling. For the record, I think it's good gambling tough. Moneywise. But my only concern is HABS to win. What's better :Having a lot for your money or Making players happy. Ooops.. there's the cap. Well ok then. In the end, I hope SLACKY's happy for years to go and habs win a cup. Go habs go!

  2. I got something I wanted to get your take on. Which 3 prospects are better, Slaf, Reinbacher & Demidov or Shane Wright, Mishkov & let's say Parakh? How about head to head, Mishkov versus Demidov? If you were to rate those 6 picks, the 3 they took & the 3 they could have taken, in what order would they be. Thanks, love your content.

  3. Given how much the cap is expected to rise over the next decade, and how Slafkovsky and the team at large is expected to improve over the same timeframe, we could be looking at the biggest steal of a contract in the NHL in a few short years.

  4. Hopefully this trend continues with all the players buying in. It's a great signing by Hughes, man this habs team is going to be something to watch in 3 years

  5. I'm really excited that Slaf is locked in for the next 8 years (at least) but I'm just
gonna say that I'm really gonna miss having Honda Civic on the team.

  6. The only free agent besides Monaghan I would have considered was Kane. Second line with Caulfield and Dach and PP weapon. I hope Kovacevich wanted NJ and Kent treated him well. Good soldier and solid Dman

  7. Could NOT be more on board!
I'm POSITIVE that SLAF is gonna show everyone he's worth every PENNY!
And, I NEVER get tired of seeing Shane Wright's Boohoo-I'm-hurt face. lmfao
It seems like KH is taking the rebuild exactly the way it should be taken. Small steps. Small but progressive. The more time you put into it, the better the team, and the LONGER they stay competitive. I eventually want a HABS team that contends for a long time. And I don't really care how long it takes to get to that point. To be honest, I'm having a lot of fun watching the rebuild. I've never been so invested in the prospects pool and watching our players in the AHL, Juniors, Europe…etc. Having a lot of fun. It's an exciting time to be a HABS fan right now.

  8. Hughes has shown that if you sign with Montreal you buy into what they are building, you will get paid but you won't get overpaid and if you don't like that , fine montreal will move on. Staying away in free agency was actually really good , what contract that was signed today would you have liked in Montreal? I don't see any . Can't add on d , we have to many young players coming up , up front all the top players signed were either to much term or to much money . Trades have been a strength of hughes , he's not done yet it's literally just the start of the off-season

  9. Kent out here Building a culture of "we are in this together" love it. if he had bridged him for $5m we'd be paying him 10m or more at 25 for fear of UFA. smart play paying him handsomely for the player he is now and locking it in for 8 years.

  10. Love it, locked down, bit of a discount from Slaf, building a cup team the right way. Now lock down Guhle and Arber 👍🏼

  11. Habs did a great job with the draft and for not thumbing for a ride in the free agency clown car today. Habs took several steps forward this week.

  12. This a fantastic approach. A lot of talent out there, sure, but does it help with the process?
    Nope.
Take a pass this year, there’s internal work to sort out. I’m loving the rebuild process, and the Russian is sweetening the pot in 2025.

  13. It's a great salary structure to be setting up, but we need this core to take a step forward. Eventually we will need to sign or trade for some talent and if we want those guys to fall in line with our salary structure we need to be a perennial contender.

  14. cofee line, XS ….. what a blast 😀 😀 100% agree, GM is doing great job, having enough patience to resist free agency temptations

  15. Love this kid, but 8 yrs? So are we just gonna sign everyone to 8 yr deals? And here we are laughing at the leafs for handcuffing themselves.

  16. Im not really a fan of long term contracts simply because of the situation we have had with carey price. If he stays healthy and productive then good deal

  17. The funny thing is that if Slaf perform at the level of the second half of the season, no progress, his contract will be just Ok. A slight overpay, but not much. It's wonderful! I was expecting 9ish.

  18. I’m 60 and a life long Habs fan and feel it’s the the best managed Canadians team I’ve known. Excited for the future
