hey Canucks fans back with news of a minor signing for the Vancouver Canucks the Vancouver Canucks after announcing the signings of forwards Jake debrusk Danton Hein and ke for Sherwood now they signed defenseman Derek forbert to a one-year contract worth $1.5 million think of him as your Ian Cole replacement not your Nikita zador replacement but your Ian Cole replacement he’s 6’4 215 PBS so he’s a big boy uh good at penalty killing good at shot suppression also good at turning the puck over a little bit so I think we’re going to have to live with that but likely to be a third pairing defenseman uh paired with Noah julson you got Hughes honic Susie Meyers and now forbert with julson unless the Canucks upgrade either forbert or julson so again Derek forbert one year $1.5 million he was drafted in 2010 in the middle of that round 15th overall by the LA Kings and in his 10-year career he did five years with the Kings a year with Calgary a year with Winnipeg and the last three years with the Boston Bruins so yes coming over from Boston has been de Brusque hinding and forbert going to Boston Elias Lindholm and Nikita zadorov the guys going over to Boston getting paid a lot more than the guys coming to Vancouver now forbert you’re not getting a lot of offense his career high is 18 points I think he’s had that twice he’s also had 12 points twice and he’s had 14 points twice so you’re basically getting a guy who’s going to get get somewhere between 12 and 18 points but it makes sense if if that’s if he’s going to be a third pairing defenseman on this team and I think most importantly he he feels that profile that Rick toet Patrick Alin Jim ruford seem to like of a big defenseman tough to play against especially important in the playoffs you got to get there first obviously so don’t expect a lot of offense from him but expect him to be a good teammate someone who’s going to stand up for his teammates like I said good on the penalty kill good at shot suppression blocking shots and taking away cross uh cross team passes and if if that’s his profile for 1.5 million as opposed to the 3 million that we paid eating cold last season I am going to take that every single day so now the knucks have added de Brusque Heinen Sherwood and forbert basically to replace guys that have walked away or got traded and that is up front that is Lindholm laf and MV as I mentioned my last and then last video and then now replacing Cole and zadorov so the canu have spent $1.75 million today 10.75 in a one-year cap that’s 5.5 to De brasque 2.25 to hinen and 1.5 each to Sherwood and forbert to me that I think that means they have about $5 million left to spend after spending 10.75 so we’ll see they still got to figure out what they’re going to do with Archer shilav and maybe add one more mid-tier player so there we go con fans let me know what you think about this particular signing Derek forbert defenseman big guy one year $1.5 million let me know in the comments below stay safe stay healthy take care of yourselves and take care of each other God bless and go conect go

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the club has agreed to terms with defenceman Derek Forbort on a 1-year contract worth $1.5M.

He will serve as the replacement for Ian Cole.
