  1. Just to clarify one thing about this franchise:

One key reason why we're not coming out to watch the team yet is because the tickets are still priced like the team is an annual playoff contender. With how much there is to do in the Bay Area, and how expensive literally everything is everywhere now, a lot of us don't want to shell out that kind of cash to go to more than, say, 4 or 5 games a year if we're not 100% committed to the roster pre-tear down completion, as it has been the last couple of seasons

  2. It’s not as though the Sharks could get much worse. I mean, even if they hadn’t changed anything, they’d probably do better next year solely by accident.

  3. The Sharks were fortunate to draft 1st and bring home Celebrini. Dickenson landing to them shortly after would be gravy….the thick, lumpy stuff (not the soup-like stuff). This draft has resulted in two core pieces.

  4. They just added Ryan Clowe as AGM…I don't think there is a more inexperienced front office in the NHL. Am I wrong?

  5. I think the Sharks need about three more years of hardcore tanking before they should really think about adding free agents and being competitve. Probably would have been better to take on a bad contract or two and get a pick in compensation instead of getting Tyler Toffoli (no offense to the man, just that the Sharks need as many picks as they can get).

  6. The crowds have already been building up for the development camp so I could see a bump in attendance for Celebrini during the season, if he chooses to sign this year. I would love to attend more games, had they not scheduled only one single home game on my days off of work.

  7. Musty might get the 9 game sample size before the decision needs to be made about whether or not to send him back to junior. Probably another year of junior needed

  8. I went to more games the last 2 seasons as tickets were much cheaper and I could move down to the lower bowl easily. That may not be the case anymore.

  9. I'm a longtime Sharks fan since the inception back in the 90s. I live in Northern California, but not in San Jose. For me to go to a game, we usually spend the night in San Jose which means a 2.5 hour drive, a hotel, and usually dinner and breakfast, and the game has to be a Friday or Saturday unless I want to miss work the next day (I don't). That's a lot of money to see a team that is horrible. I can watch at home and pause the television at intermission to: grab a beer, walk the dogs, pack for work in the morning, load some laundry etc…

Frankly, I would rather travel to see them in LA, Seattle or Vancouver right now because at least after the Sharks get curb-stomped, I can go right back to being a tourist. We saw them in Vancouver last year; the people are friendly, the city is beautiful, and the restaurants are excellent.

I hope to never see them in Las Vegas. I didn't think I could hate a team more than the Ducks until Vegas came along.

With that said, I'll probably go see the Sharks in San Jose this year. We're due. I like the direction of the team. I don't mind the Vlasic contract because he put in the years since he was a kid. The Karlsson trade and resigning was galling. They went hard after Tavares right around that time too. I get it though; they were in "win now" mode, and we are finally at rock bottom after a long run. I've always preferred my teams build through the draft and within the organization.

I'm super stoked about Celebrini, but I'm just as stoked about Dickinson to be honest. The top D-men I liked best to build around were Silayev, Buium, and Dickinson with Dickinson being my personal preferred choice followed closely by Silayev. I couldn't believe he fell to us. The whole neighborhood heard me sound my barbaric yawp over the rooftops of the world, to paraphrase Walt Whitman. A good team MUST have a great blue line in my opinion, and that requires a defense prioritizing first pair player to eat up minutes and control his own end (Chara, Lidstrom, Pronger, Langway, Murphy, Stevens, Chelios). If they have an offensive side too, that's great. Will Dickinson be one of those guys? Most likely not, but when one drafts so high, one must reach for the stars and hope for the best.

I actually hope the Sharks are pretty gawdawful again this year. Then in next year's draft, they draft their more offensive but still defensive D-man (Niedermayer, Housley, Leetch) again reaching for the stars, and he will have to be a right side defenseman.

I also hope the FVGKs drop off since SJS hold their pick. Karma needs to strike.

SJS must build a strong blue line regardless.

    22 wins is my over/under.

  10. San Jose fan. Last two years have been pretty tough… not much enthusiasm. It wasn't even just that the team was bad, but most of the familiar faces we knew and loved had moved on or retired. That makes a difference. I mean, I'd go to a game just to see Joe Thornton's beard, even if I know they'll lose…

But now that the team has some fresh blood and still has some guys from the Old Guard sticking around like Couture and even Vlasic, I'd absolutely love to go out for some games this season to see what can be done by this group.

I dont expect them to be winning a ton of games yet, but I could see in 2-3 years that this team will be absolutely on the up and competing in the playoffs with some young, exciting talent, and perhaps even some free agents that could come over and want to chase a cup!

  11. Sharks have the most underrated blueline prospects it's crazy. If Cagnoni and Pohlkamp were in the Leafs, Habs, or Rangers systems then they would be regarded as top prospects in the league. Mainly Cagnoni, he's a top 10 defensive prospect (prior to this years draft)

  12. How can you not be more excited for the Sharks next year, look at that final team they iced last season! 😂 Just got to hope the prospects develop and some under performing guys turn it around, it could be a surprising season.

  13. Haven't been watching as many games as I wanted the last few years. Dealing with a now 3 year old has a lot to do with it. I did watch the prospect scrimmage today. It was 90 minutes well spent on a holiday when I wasn't cooking on the grill. With all the young talent, I'm really looking forward to even just the rookie face off tournament and preseason in September

  14. Usually make a game or two each year, although I might have to make the 2.5 hour drive more often now. Very excited for the future.

  15. Two things :
    – The pairing could be very different than last season also because the coaching staff will be entirely new. I'm curious to see what Warsofsky gonna do.
    – There's 0 pressure, SJ still gonna be bottom of the league but no problem, we could get one or two interesting prospect in the next draft and it's projected to be a deep one.

  16. Watching the prospects game yesterday, musty and smith looked great. Macklin looked good. The future is bright for sure.

  17. Celebrini and Dickinson in the same draft class is going to be THE turning point in the trajectory of this franchise in 5-10-15 years

  18. Don’t forget next years draft. They have Vegas’ 1st in 2025, so depending how they finish the Sharks could potentially have 2 top 15 picks again, unless they decide to make a deal.. Askarov wouldn’t hurt

  19. I watched about 30-35 complete sharks games this season. You bet if Celebrini is with the big club I’m watching every single one

  20. Blackwood stood on his head for the Sharks a lot of the time. Now that the defense is more competent, Blackwood probably puts up numbers for this squad.

  21. I feel good about the Sharks rn and i always look forward to going to as many games as i can despite their past few years ofc job wise its been tough to get season tickets or go to lots of games but hearing the fanbase rn this coming year i do expect the attendance jumping quite a bit. but overall im wayy more excited from this past draft and i believe is Logan is fully healthy and celebrini plays i feel confident to say 30 wins

  22. i really think celebrini needs more dev time, I'd hate to waste an investment like that after suffering so much this year. I do think we can get 25 games this year, especially if cooch comes back
