Articles like this are why I disregard Hockey Wilderness. Just a bunch of nonsense about making Eriksson Ek a wing hidden behind the headline about captaincy. Sure, let’s move our best center to wing, because obviously we have an abundance of centers ready to jump in and take his spot on the top line.

What an odd take.
When our roster was stacked with guys like Heatley, Settogucci, Parise, Suter, Niederietter, Coyle, Koivu, Granlund, etc. There was a clear talent gap whenever Eriksson Ek got pulled up. He couldn’t play with the veterans and he looked slower than similar aged players on the roster, and with our top 3 lines essentially spoken for he wasn’t hungry enough to even play a role on the 4th line.
The Wild have a habit of parading consistent AHL performances and claiming it will someday translate to NHL readiness. See : Luke Kunin.
Similarly, they have a habit of giving developing players a roster spot when our roster is weak, where these same players would be immediately relegated to the AHL elsewhere.
See : “Wild Young Guns”, the future of the Wild featuring multiple top draft picks you’ve never heard of including Cody Almond, Tyler Graovac, Warren Peters and Brett Bulmer. This was the era that the “home sell-out” streak was ended at the Xcel Energy Center after about 10 years.

As much as I would have liked to see someone else get the C and I don’t think Spurgeon really makes sense to me, I also understand that bill guerin has a far better idea than me so I’ll just default to him

You’d think the “take the C away” crowd would have shut up after seeing how gutless we were without Spurgeon last year. The team was definitely missing his leadership. They almost never came back from a deficit like they had the previous years and fell apart regularly. He has the C for a reason.

I would love Ekker to get a letter. He IS the model the entire rest of the team could benefit from copying. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. If you aren’t on the same level as Ekker and Kap for dedication to fitness and on ice performance, then you can find your way to Des Moines until it clicks. No room for passengers on Minnesota’s bench. Time for Hyne’s and Guerin to chop a few feet off of the pine. Nobody should be comfortable this year.
The entire article was honestly hard to read. Very discombobulated writing. Some very silly ideas that thankfully won’t come to fruition. That was barely Reddit post worthy writing, let alone something that got approved by somebody running the website lol. Sorry to be harsh, but it’s the truth.
