This situation is so, SO, SO DUMB

Regarding Jacob Trouba and the New York Rangers

  1. Funny thing is, Truba in person is just tall he isn’t jacked or muscular, he’s built more like a golf player but on the ice…with his pads on and skates on, he towers over ppl. That’s misleading 😂

  2. Yeah, as a Rangers fan I'm really annoyed. Firstly on the positive note he's an impact player that forces opponents to keep their heads up when he's on the ice. That is a valuable assest. Apparently he's a good leader and on a team lacking hard hitting losing their most physical defenseman would be big, also he has a good shot when he uses it and obviously blocks a lot of shots (partially to make up for poor positioning and excessive turnovers)…

…that said playing with an edge and reckless play are different very different things. Clearly Trouba has gotten slower, less effective, always a turnover machine that can't make a freakin breakout pass to save his life and that offense that lured the Rangers to spend a head scratching 8M per vanished when he put on the blue jersey, and now with decreased efficiency the borderline and dirty hits are up to overcompensate for his declining play, penalty minutes are up…and the team is handcuffed…we can't even get Vlad Tarasenko who'd like take a discount to come back to NY because there is no cap f'n space! No option for a top right winger…round out the D….and if we can't get rid of this guy by the deadline next March say good by to future superstar K'Andre Miller….

Trades are part of the deal…he's getting paid 8M, freakin deal with it already! Time to move on

  3. I dont blame him for exercising the ntc, i dont blame him for wanting to be near his wife more.

I just dont CARE. Its not my problem. Players making waaaay less are put in way tougher situations. The yroubas have 8 million ways per year to deal with being inconvenienced for one year. These players ask for a mountain of money and then get moved bc of how badly they underperform.

Its just not really our problem as fans and people barely making ends meet

  4. If he's exercising his no trade clause, that's within his right to do so. The Rangers have only themselves to blame for giving him that contract lol.

  5. I'm going to dumb it down even more because my honest initial thought when I seen the thumbnail for this video pop upon my recommended list was "She should start using whatever he is using for his hair because his looks a lot better and much healthier". Now I have to spend at least the rest of today trying to figure out where a thought like that even comes from? I don't even have hair, the "f" I know about what is healthy or not? What sucks even more is that when I went back to look at the thumbnail again in an attempt to find out what could have triggered such a thought, my second reaction was "Well, it is true."

  6. The way contracts work in the NHL can be annoying when you're on the receiving end of something like the Nurse or Trouba contract, but I like that the players have more security for a contract than the NFL, which regularly cuts contracts. A player can struggle to demand more money, but NFL teams can yoink at pretty much any time. It feels one sided that one side can underperform and be cut, but overperform and… just be stuck. The NHL sets terms and sticks to it.

Part of negotiating 4+ year contracts is considering those what-ifs. Shorten them up for safety or offer incentives instead of solid contract. Do a bridge deal if there have been 1-2 good years. Trouba came off 50 points and the Jets couldn't come to terms and dealt him. Good eye on their part to see they shouldn't jump on a great year as clearly sustainable performance. Very good player, but not holding as much value as he held out for.

I feel like Trouba is going to game the system a hair, but that's just part of how it works. As much as he'd probably hate to live in Edmonton (too far away from NYC, cold), I bet he knows they don't need to put another overpaid defenseman on their roster and won't include them on his list (and if he's wrong… cup contender!). Sharks are garbage right now, so easy pick there. Whether or not he wants to play for Islanders or Devils, they'd be close enough to home that he could let them be targets for his family's sake. Effectively, there might be 5 teams in far off locations that he doesn't want to go to that might take him, 5 places that want a veteran that could that he doesn't want, and finding 5 more teams that might take him could be a tall order. Tough to trade, and I'm guessing that his value on the roster is still more than what the Rangers would get back after accounting for the buyout penalty.

In the end, Rangers are getting what happens when you buy high, and the Jets are enjoying the return of selling high.

  7. If Trouba is blocking a deal to a team on his no trade list, I blame Drury for that. The off limit teams have been stipulated and Drury has no business dealing with those teams. If the team isn't on his list, Trouba has to honor the contract that he signed and that's that.

  8. As a Ranger's fan I don't like Trouba because apparently when he's playing injured and in pain he makes dumb playoff game costing penalties.

  9. I think it’s hilarious that these millionaires are in these kind of situations if you don’t wanna leave your area because of your wife, then retire take your money and go home

  10. In Toronto the media owns the Raptors and when they wanted Vince gone they even brought up his momma.
Professional sports have been ruined and hockey is especially gutless. If I want to buy a nice shampoo I'll see which of the girls has the nicest longest girliest hair lmao.

Bunch of cookie eaters and they can't even play as good either. Just lame plays and breakouts. All for premium prices? Hard pass.
    Rather watch junior C.

  11. trouba’s wife is a relevant part of the story. if i recall correctly when he wanted out of winnipeg he made it clear he’d only play in new york or new jersey because of her schooling, so it’s entirely possible he will make it difficult to move him, for both him and and his wife’s benefit.

  12. Has there ever been a life long Ranger player? they seem to throw their players pretty easily. they were the Golden Knights before they existed.

  13. He's making like $8 million/year and we're talking about this lol. She's gotta know her role. Poor strategic planning. Should have waited to have kids until residency was over. She's what, 31? Wait three years. If she can't transfer, she should have her mom from Michigan come stay in New York and help her take care of the kid. People want it all these days; you have to have priorities. This is the most 2024 thing ever

  14. military families do it everyday without the live in nanny and 8 million dollar contract. you can move your residency as well, she doesn’t have to finish in new york but she wants to. there’s literally nothing to feel sorry for. also as a med student most residents make it a point to not have a baby until after residency ends.

  15. Why do guys who don’t like to be hit complain about someone who is stronger than you and knows how to hit. What are you a sissy? Are you gonna tell Jacob please stop hitting you hurt me hahahahahaha hence why none of you can play so you try this avenue because you can’t hang.

  16. Some dirty hits.. I kinda hope he gets shafted and traded to a team he doesn’t want to play for. That Mackinnon hit… he’s hitting with too much force and clearly doesn’t care what happens. Man that one near the end… f that guy.

  17. Just because he gets traded does not mean that his wife gets traded. She is under no obligation to pack up and move anywhere. She is alone the majority of the hockey season anyways. And he is alone also considering how much studying and work medical students must put in. One year is not a big deal for her to stay behind. It sounds like an emotionally underdeveloped couple. I suppose maybe they have been together since the age of 2 and cannot survive without each other. Road trips must kill them.

  18. how ignorant are you?? It DOES matter that his wife is the reason why he doesn't want to go, and Trouba is 100% right, when he signed his contract with the Rangers, he made it very clear to them that he wanted to at least be here until his wife;s residency is completed. Now, he couldn't foresee covid, and neither could the Rangers, but, you want to ignore his main reason for signing the deal he did? Can Drury place him on waivers and have a team take him, yes, should he, absolutely mot. Trouba was clear. Drury should have spoken with Trouba before any of this, he did the same thing with Goodrow, said nothing, Goodrow found out the same way everyone else did. I wanted Goodrow gone, I didn't want Trouba to be here next year, but, knowing about this deal between Trouba and the rangers, I knew he should be, but for Drury ignoring Trouba's intentions, it's amazing how ignorant so many are. Yes, Drury can do this or that, I hope he does right by the player, again, not Trouba's fault delayed his wife's residency. This is ridiculous, I hate half my fan base.

  19. Kind of weird to have the wherewithal to point out how much of a scumbag move it is to drag someone's personal life into the limelight, and then immediately turn around and drag the same personal life into the same limelight.

This is trash clickbait content. You're better than this.

  20. “May make it difficult” lol. What does that even mean. Either you report and play or your contract is void.

  21. Welp we know Boston isn’t in the NTC. Best city for the medical field and only 3.5 hour drive from NYC. B’s wouldn’t pay him more than 3 mil though lmao

  22. They should come to Buffalo. Plenty of blooming hospitals and research centers here for medical reasons. We could use his physicality.

  23. Thanks for clarification, it made absolutely no sense to me after reading that article and just seeing it everywhere

  24. Fake tough guy on the ice. Letting his wife call the shots behind the scenes. There will be a divorce in the future and she will be the one to initiate it
