I had a good laugh at this. Why would Montreal offer a 1st for a guy who's unproven plus Mesar AND Harris or Barron? There's no way KH offered this and there's no way the Jets said no.
I'm a Jets fan I Winnipeg. It's going to take a player or prospect equivalent to Ghule to get a deal done, whether it be with the Habs or some other team. Despite these entitlement issues, he's an "A" prospect. The guys a really really solid player. It's going to take an equivalent player or package. Mesar doesn't even move the needle.

Personally, I wouldn't, as a Hab fan, give up Calgary's/Florida's #1 pick, Harris or Barron plus Mesar for MacGro. That's too much. Mesar was a first round pick two years ago and is only 20. Too early to give up on him. The #1 pick could be a high one. A player to give up higher and instead of Mesar? Sure we have a few, but they are basically untouchable. Finally NO team is going to let a 20 year old college kid, dictate as to which league he wants to plays in. No one, I believe, is that foolish. I smell an attitude here. Best keep away unless things change.
I thought Montreal cubured was full ? Why would they give masar a player that hasnโt even proved himself NHL ready to the jets. Montreal do better than that !!!!
Mesar Harris and our 2nd 2025 might seem like overpay but Mcgroarty will be a great pickup

CBJ trying to trade Laine, but it's a tough one. Ridiculous contract, he delivers nowhere near the value, and appears to be a guy who loves the money and lifestyle, but has no love for the game. CBJ would have to retain 50%, a 3rd team would have to come in and retain some more, then maybe some team would roll the dice on him (Vegas). Hate to say it, but I think the guy is done as an NHL player. Maybe too early to write him off. At any rate CBJ need to drastically reduce their value and ask for thus guy.
Way too much to give up for a guy that hasn't played one second in the NHL….
If you include 1st then you need to add Gallagher to get rid of worst contract and maybe Anderson.
If itโs Barron: that is three first round picks for one first rounder (Barron, Mesar, and a Calgary 1st). That is such an overpay for an unproven and not a super highly touted prospect. F*** off winnipeg. Let your prospect rot and continue to lose value.

If Habs did offer that package and Jets refused, they're crazy. That first round pick from CGY could be as high as 11. I would be ready to give Mesar and Harris or Barron + at most the worst of our 2 second rounders in 2025. Jets need to remember they're not in a position of strength regarding McGroarty and Habs don't need to make a trade, so it's take it or leave it.
Harris, Mesar + 2nd for Mcgroarty at most
For Laine I would give Mesar Harris and yes Hutson for Laine and a Columbus 2026 first pick
The fact that McGroarty " wants " an instant spot in an NHL lineup rather than go to camp and peove you can make the lineup tells me his self entitlement and a pushy agent are things to avoid. The smart move would be making a small deal for Kaliyev from LA for Mesar, we need an early 20s player with some NHL experience.
Wpg isn't getting Roy or Beck so that conversation is over so for me if Mesar + Harris or Barron+ a conditional 1st or high 2nd won't get it done then it's time to move on to something else
if teams from Canada, seven at this time, form own hockey league, at least four and maybe more would be in Canada league playoffs; and 16 of remaining 25 teams in U.S. would be in playoffs

If I'm the Jets, I'm sitting on McGroarty until someone offers me a player that's worth something
Iโve never heard any of this about Mesar from anyone who covers the Habs closely so I have to assume this guy is just speculating about what the Habs think of Mesar
