Since the Canadiens drafted Ivan Demidov one week ago, Canadiens fans have been WILD with excitement. They expect him to be the next Guy Lafleur, the one they will cheer for game after game.

Today, Coach, inside of the Habs Daily News, talks about how and why he believes Demidov will break Alex Kovalev’s season record of one point per game set in 2008.

    Demidov will change the trajectory of the Habs rebuild. There was always the possibility he could land at #5 , as outlined when we did the mock draft, but almost seems surreal that he actually landed to us. Love the fact that he seems to be ecstatic to be joining the Habs. Well done Coach.

    Demidov is elite at MHL level. I've heard opinions that the MHL is lesser the QMJHL. How he translates to an NHL rink and level of skill remains to be seen. His projections are real good, but the proof will be when he gets here. If he proves to be a 70ish+ pt player I'm good with that. If he becomes a 100+ pt elite talent, that would be awesome! Either way they did their homework and made a good choice. If he doesn't do great 1st season, half the fans and media will call him a bust. That's Montreal. They were, some are still calling Slaf a bust. Neither of them is said to be a generational talent, we'll see when Demidov gets here. Can't wait! I'm just being realistic here.
