Why would Flyers retained 50% of TK’s contract? The 3 players coming from Caps are at appx 12 mil while TK is at 5.5 mil. Sounds like a no even with them sending a 1st rounder.

I’d avoid that site. Only made up bs. I used to follow it, but realized it’s all crap. I can’t see TK getting traded to Caps. I def see him getting traded, but not down the road. I love TK, but for the Flyers, it’s best to trade him now, recoup a few solid assets, maybe a young nhl player and draft picks. It’s a very difficult decision to make, but needs to be made w your head not heart.

This doesn’t specify if the Washington pick is conditional or not. If it is unprotected then it changes the deal some, but if not then we are doing them too many favours for limited return. When you trade a star player who is already on a reasonable contact you shouldnt have to retain salary, let alone retain and then also add a bad contract/LTIR stash from the other team. A variant of this where we could get Lapierre and a unprotected first would be enticing to me, considering you don’t know if the Caps will be a trainwreck or a playoff team(seems a bit 50/50).

NHL Traderumors has TK and Laughton along with a high draft pick going to Winnipeg for Rutger McGroarty (sp. ?). Personally, I wouldn’t put much faith in rumors, especially on social media.
