The above example has Lilleberg and Groshev up, leaving 665k in cap space. Are any of Groshev, Geekie, Huuthanen, Duke, Gauthier, etc. ready? Maybe not, but even in the event JBB is done seriously splashing around for the summer, I think we’re still doing pretty good. We can also use the cap at the deadline, which might mean more guys are available.

RW2 is a major concern for me. Was hoping we had something in the works to address it but with less than a mil in cap space probably not.

One thing that’s bothered me lately is people saying we need to upgrade our defense, when a lot of breakdowns were forwards not skating cooper’s system.
Offensive production will absolutely take some time after losing stammer, but if we get back to basics and skate the system, our defense should get back to 2 or fewer GA per game. Can’t blame roster here, gotta hold coaching and players accountable for defense.
Then, hopefully if we sort out our end, the goals will begin to flow.

HOT TAKE…been letting the emotions settle from all the moves..
I really feel like we should have passed on Guentzel.
JBB came out of the sergachev trade aces with opening up cap and getting a good return.
He immediately put us back into cap purgatory with the Guentzel trade/sign
We would have been better off using that freed up cap for starting to rebuild our depth and having 4 solid lines.
He got shiny new toy syndrome and had to have JG.
He’s not a bad add just not what we need at this time and could have spread that cap out better with some shifty signings and maybe a trade or 2.
