  1. Soon Americans will be the only people weightlifting according to your logic – atleast then the USA may win a gold or world championship.

  2. I think the question then becomes what makes you think your top 6 wasn't juiced up? Simply because they weren't officially popped? We all know the IWF is corrupted too.

  3. The Americans you talk about are not clean c'mon man you know that being that close. Yes they're most likely cleaner. But a cycle is still a cycle and you are never again clean after. Stop lying dude

  4. you cannot really say that his results after coming back showed anything, he almost took his own life and everyone left him. I can tell that very few would be in prime after that

  5. Good breakdown Coach…But, I'd bet my bank you're on some sort of PED as well, or have been on some sort of PED…You just look it, your skin, your face bloat, your nips under (min) 2 shirts.

  6. As if you couldn't get PEDs in US or elsewhere as a weightlifter if you wanted. The curious thing Broderick Chavez stated that it's stupid easy to get PEDs today, you don't even have to know anybody and prove yourself to them to get them. You just order them online to your post box. Another thing he states (as someone who gets regularly consulted about the substances and how to avoid getting caught) about their use was that the tests are somewhat designed to be possible to get around and that it almost requires cases like the crossfit case where the training partner who was supposed to give the fake sample had accidentally used something. Other than the corruption in weightlifting where you just pay to not get popped.

What made me really curious about the topic is how Gabriel Sincraian wasn't by his own words even using any during the preparation to Rio when he got popped. Like he said that he was tested so often before the olympics that it was impossible to take anything. As I recall he was actually doing very impressive numbers at that time in training, and he did get the result for bronze medal, but the president of IWF already knew before the ceremony that he would be popped (surprising?) in two months. While some other competitors in the same games weren't even tested as many times as the minimum requirement to compete in the olympics (based on the McLaren report). When he got popped in 2013, he was tested and got the message that there was no problems with the test, it was supposed to take 14 days to get the results but he got them 3 months later and when he tried to register for the competition, he was sent a message he couldn't compete for being suspended.

Now I don't claim to have the truth, but it's attractive to listen to someone who is actually deep in both the chemistry and dodging the tests, getting consulted by athletes about the topic. And something makes me question how deserving and clean the other athletes were. And despite the corruption taking the medals and titles from these selected athletes, there's no question that they were in fact the best among all those PED using athletes. I feel like it's a very hypocritical argument to state that one of the most dominant lifters in the sport isn't worthy of being named as such because he robbed the position from someone else. Like when you see the whole top ten being removed from the records in some sports, it makes you question. They won the competition against people doing the same but with worse results. You can bring so many clean lifters and put them on PEDs and I claim they wouldn't beat Ilya's track record. I claim clean Ilya would've done very well at his peak. They don't just make you the best if you aren't material to be the best. Most aren't or they would've beaten Ilya. Like you yourself stated that many of these countries just openly sell those substances to anyone willing to buy and don't let WADA work transparently, so they should/should've had a plethora of athletes competing with Ilya. Yet he was dominant and the numbers he lifted were wild.

You talk about Ilya coming back being the proof of PEDs being so important and between the lines imply that the competition wasn't enhanced. But some others like Gabriel Sincraian was of the opinion that there was way more to it than stopping PEDs, like all the events in his personal life. Furthermore Sincraian stated that he saw some people take a lot of PEDs without being able to even c&j the numbers that Sincraian would snatch, as an example of how people don't just become amazing by taking PEDs. Sincraian also claimed that if you start using PEDs young, it's hard to keep the results over the time. Some others stated just how his [Ilya] whole psychology changed when he realized he had become mortal, how he had learned to just win, not lose and it broke him. Speculation, but I also wouldn't over-simplify things that we already know heavily impact athletes. Like you have a natural athlete c&j over 200 kg and you claim that someone who was a fantastic lifter and had used PEDs forever, c&j huge numbers, suddenly couldn't c&j 200 kg just because PEDs? And nothing else? It almost sounds like a counter-argument to PEDs being all it took. Like a lot of athletes cycle the PEDs out before the competitions so they're not constantly enjoying the benefits even if they train with them and get to enjoy the results. Strawman you might say. Certainly not steelman. This is not to say that there aren't great natural athletes today, the understanding of training has improved a lot and now the most promising athletes might not take PEDs anymore so we get to see what they would lift without PEDs.

One of the reasons I believe people also put high respect on Ilya is because he looked like an athlete and he was a great promotion face for weightlifting, someone to use as a poster boy to get weightlifting gather some interest. And some other popped olympic medalists like Oleksiy Torokhtiy and Gabriel Sincraian have done so much for the community by offering a ton of educational content and lifting up the face of weightlifting. Torokhtiy with his own brand of good sports products, training camps, entertainment and Sincraian with coaching app, entertainment and training vlogs. The same stuff people like Max Aita and JTS or Zack Telander are doing, or what Clarence Kennedy has been doing. It's difficult for me to claim that they would've done more for weightlifting being clean athletes than they did as popped athletes. And they even got to come out in the open about the use of PEDs and corruption in IWF when they had nothing more to lose in the game. Ilya didn't take that route but he had a similar effect inspiring people for years. And I think it's not taking away and causing suffering for these natural athletes now, I think it still benefits them because some people care about their performances when weightlifting got more eyes from some of those fantastic athletes that used PEDs.

  7. For me the GOAT. In my opinion Pyrros Dimas, Klokov and Tian Tao are the most overrated lifters of all time. But isn't the US world leading in steroide use?

  8. Wait, so you are telling me that all those top notch PED scientists and chemists working in best labs in the US are doing it for the lulz while athletes use creatine mono only?

  9. Hate to burst your bubble but absolutely nobody believes the US Olympic team is clean … Noone
Literally every other lifter was on drugs and they still are. The only reason the kazak team got destroyed was they didn't pay Ayan enough.

  10. Fair play to that lifter of yours but just because they passed tests doesn't mean they are clean. USADA do you even believe what you're saying ?

  11. Ilya rebounds as a clean and aging weightlifter after not training and suffering through the worst period of his life, and proceeds to hit Nathan Damron's all time best numbers at 96 as a 102? What a lame and oversimplified comparison that is a disservice to both athletes and their work.

  12. Lol the gall on American content creators to believe that only their government is honest and everyone else is corrupt or incompetent. Please, dude. It is the US we are talking about. Your country is famous for toppling, destabilizing and downright invading foreign governments to get an edge economically. All things that are infinitely worse than doing PEDs. Do you really think that "cheating to win at sports" is where the US government will draw the line? Come on!

  13. this video is a joke. Eveyone in the US(NFL, NBA, all olympic athletes) are doping as well. Literally every olympic athlete is doping. The truth is that sticking a needle in ur but is the easiest thing when it comes to training. That doesn't mean he didn't lift well. He is the Michael Jordan of weightlifting.

  14. So, we shouldn't put Naim, Pyros, or any of the other great lifters of the 80's – 2000's on pedastals either.

  15. This is so painfully stupid.

Ilya Ilyin is a an Olympic Champion.
Post less, talk less, coach more, bud.

  16. Oh you are a dreamer . The USA lifters are using drugs as well but the difference is they don’t have the talent to go with it . Look at the technique of the USA lifters you just shown . It horrible ! Ilya has superior genetics , superior technique , superior mental toughness , superior coaches , and the drugs are just the icing on the cake . Now for you to say that drugs are prescription only in USA so they are very hard to get is deluded . I live in little old New Zealand and we had guys in the gym selling testosterone in vials that were being made in a shabby little garden shed . Guys that were using it made incredible gains in strength so if it’s happening my wee country it’s most certainly happening in the USA . Now if you think USADA testing is a sign your American lifters are clean you are seriously deluded . The bar has been set so high to even qualify for the olympics that lifters have to use drugs to make the total that will gain them entry . USADA and the IOC are corrupt as corrupt can be and they know dam well that an olympics without super human feats of strength or speed is a boring Olympics and they go broke if the olympics loses its public appeal . What they will do though seeing as they are so corrupt is throw an athlete or team under the bus every once in a while just so the silly public think wow aren’t they keeping it clean bahahaha😂.

  17. BS, you are saying the eastern block has easy access to anabolic steroids and claiming that USA is clean. Why did I waste my time watching this.

  18. the last time there was a drug free olympic champion is 1960. From Vasily Alexkseyev to Lasha Talakhadze every single champion is on steroids. All of them. Of course there are no USA weightlifting champs because we drug test.

  19. Wow. Unbelievable American bias and ignorance. Americans don't use PEDS. Yeah, sure buddy. I'm Canadian and I remember when Ben Johnson got busted for steroids. What everyone failed to mention at the time was that Carl Lewis was also on the juice except the American Association didn't tell the Olympic commitee so he got to compete.
