I think we all need to get comfortable with the idea that Laine is going to be on the roster until he can prove he is worth $8.7m/yr. Ownership wasn’t willing to pay LAK for the McLellan buyout and Waddell didn’t even bother trying to trade Elvis because he knows no one wants that contract but they didn’t buy him out either. And last year we paid Larsen, Vincent, and possibly Babcock as head coach. Retaining salary on Laine seems like it won’t happen considering how cash conscious ownership is being – and rightfully so.
No point in wasting cash on a team that won’t make the playoffs regardless. Save some money and when the team is ready to push then let’s spend like there’s no tomorrow.

Love that top line. Feels like it has everything. I like KJ with Sillinger and Voronkov too. He needs guys that can clear space. I don’t hate it.

Forward lines look about right for what we should be expecting. Defense is concerning, but definitely possible. I think Christiansen will be given every chance to earn that 3LD spot with JMFJ in the box

Flip Marchy and Chinny in the RW1/RW2 spots. Marchy has more goals and points in fewer games played than Chinny, and is close in assists. Marchy has earned that top line role, and you aren’t losing anything by playing Marchy over Chinny.

Please just stay healthy for one season. Has felt like individual and team progression has been stunted for nearly a decade because of chronic injuries.

I don’t hate chinakhov on that line. Should allow him to use his shot. I do think marchenko slots in there just as often though.
I don’t particularly like Boone there, but I see the argument in giving KJ some hard nosed linemates instead.
I don’t see jiricek slotting in as top pairing yet. We need someone more defensively sound/experienced with Z. Perfectly fine giving him 2nd pairing though.

I’m gonna guess Johnson doesn’t play that many games with Christiansen and Mateychuk bouncing around.
He knows what his role is, he’s the guy who plays when one of those two isn’t playing.
It might be a rough year, or it might be a year where a bunch of the young guys pop off. Either way, it sounds like we’ve got competent coaching coming our way.

James Malatesta will play his way into the lineup . For me, he can play a checking line role but is obviously much younger and has higher upside than Olivier and/or Danforth
