Is Sherwood the next Pavel Bure?
Suter between Podkolzin and Sherwood would be a tough 4th line to play against.
We fixed our depth problems. We are far more balanced up front. We should have production from all of our lines. A lack of back check gets players hurt. And Rick is a deciple of Mike Keenan. Demand that you check and backcheck. Notice the team looking a lot like Ricks team in Philly.. Similar philosophy. One of my all time favorite teams. Yet Edmonton broke them.. Kind of funny because I thought Gretzky and Messier were the two best players in the league for a couple years. Sounds very familiar.
Shoutout to the lunatic that thought the Canucks should have got Stamkos and Guenztel.
Cause that's remotely possible.
The Canucks spent their money wisely. July 1st is a day where way more bad contracts are signed than good ones. Allvin and co shopped wisely and spent money on depth instead of top-heavy talent.
That's aside from the fact that we never had a shot at Stamkos, Guentzel and Marchessault anyway. There was so much tampering this year, Nashville might as well had Stammer and march locked up in June, and Geuntzel was always going to go with Tampa as soon as it was an option.
We signed the biggest UFA we had the option to.
Canucks are far more balanced, depth is stronger with weapons on all 4 lines. The only problem now is that canucks D have 1 goated first line and 2 3rd lines.
They need to trade for someone to take myers off the second pairing
I don’t know why people love the run it back or stick with what they know mentality.
It’s about best fit period. That’s why a reshuffle is needed. They have really good pieces, now they have to slot into their correct roles and positions.
Debrusk/Petey/Boeser
Joshua/Miller/Garland
Heinen/Suter/Hoglander
Sherwood/Blueger/Podkolzin.
Miller with this “duo” is a huge upgrade offensively to this line while not taking away from his shutdown match up role of other top lines.
Petey needs a sniper which is Boeser, he needs an energy dog on the puck retriever that also has hands that is Debrusk.
Hoglander struggles against other teams top lines and matchup but feasts on the other teams bottom 6 along with Heinen and Suter that could become the next “best 3rd line in hockey”
That puts Blueger where he is most fit to play with 2 pitbulls on the 4th line..
IMO this lineup slots everyone into their proper spots. I believe it would be more balanced in terms of skill, energy, speed on every line and would be an absolute nightmare to play against allowing Tocchet to role 4 lines, every one of them worthy of trust in both ends of the ice.. the 4th doesn’t need to play 4-6 sheltered mins they can play 8-12 and not get caved in..
Then close to the trade deadline Alvin is going to swing for the fences and trade for Rasmus Anderson..
