Like the filled need
Sure, would have been nice to get more but unproven for real roster player isn’t terrible.
This was a great trade. Savoie had no route to our top-six and he isn’t a third line NHLer in any future.
Meanwhile, McLeod is a great defensive 3C with team control entering his prime.
It wasn’t even an overpay.
Our fans look at the trade so one dimensionally. McLeod has not just incredible speed but elite defensive statistics. If all people look at is goal scoring they won’t see the value in this. This was a great trade.
McLeod has no grit. He has skill and speed, but hardly wins the game. If he raised the puck against Bobrovsky, Oilers would’ve won the cup!

You are going to be happy with Mcleod, Edmonton signed Henrique, so he was expendable, but still a super solid 3C. Good deal for Edmonton, restocking the prospect cupboard. I imagine
this will be a win win.
I'm cautiously optimistic. As I see it, the only thing that matters for the Sabres right now is breaking the no-playoffs streak, and if trading a prospect for a proven NHLer helps them do that, I'm all for it.
BUFFALO GOT FLEECED!!! Edmonton needed to clear cap room and McCleod was going to be a casualty of that so for the Oilers to get anything in return him let alone a top 10 draft pick is absolutely nuts!!! McCleod was also a healthy scratch at times during the playoffs.
