  1. Like on one hand I get the Tavares signing argument… But like also I don't.
He's was a captain with playoff experience. Was a proven performer on several levels. Those kids were not the same. They paid for potential (which they've gotten) but they should have paid less and used John as an argument that way. Oh well, here we are 😅

  2. Zito is so intimidating but genuine at the same time lol. Comes off so friendly and genuine, but the eyes make me worry he might snap me in half at any second 😀

  3. Quinton Byfield at age 21 (will be 22 heading into next season) since people don't want to do there research.
    – One of the fastest players in the entire NHL at 6'5 (look at NHL Edge's stats)
    – Is 6'5 220lbs (in itself that is worth something)
    – Was a second overall pick but it was during the weirdest draft of our generation and he fractured his ankle in the 2021 pre-season
    – Just had the first healthy season of his career (fractured ankle in 2021, COVID in 2022 & lost over 20lbs)
    – Scored the best goal of the 2023-24 NHL regular season (Kings VS Blue Jackets Feb 20th 2024)
    – Had 20 goals, 55 points, and was a beast in the playoffs for the second straight post-season

He's doing all of this while having a very unlucky start to his career, being younger than everyone in his draft, and being MASSIVE.
That contract is def worth it right now and will become unbelievably good value as soon as this season.

  4. Connor McDavid @ 98 on the the top 100 athletes of the 21st century is a total slap in the face to hockey as a whole. Whatta fuckin joke of a list

  5. Both Binnington and rookie Joel Hofer were far better than anyone the Leafs had this past season, and Binner especially was fantastic this past year. It would be nice if these guys are going to talk about other teams, they at least try to have some knowledge of the teams in question.

  6. SDPN when introducing the VIP subs: don’t worry, if you’re not a vip subscriber, it won’t change a thing for you

Also SDPN: stop talking and save this for a vip episode

  7. Is McDavid being 98 a hockey thing or an ESPN thing? Just saying I looked at their top 100 MLB players all time and I don't think anyone thought that saw that list and didn't get pissed off at something

  8. The difference is the Yen is respected on the world stage currently, while the Ruble is basically toilet paper.

  9. I think that Nashville's home is awesome, but their away is just such bland garbage.

It was such a smart decision to take the color yellow as their primary color since no one else was using it as such.

  10. Hockey is a tiny sport in the grand scheme of things. The size of the sport is part of greatness. Being the best curling player ever is for example way lesser than being the 10th best soccer player of the season, in a global perspective.

  11. I assumed the yen was always an American cent, so 113:1 is a very believable conversion.

Also I hate Krug so I’m happy he might not play. I think his last contribution to a team was charging Thomas in the 2019 Final for the Bruins.

  12. Completely wrong on keeping Hyman, Dubas could have signed him to 8×4.5M, AKA the cost of Kerfoot and Holl minus 1 million. Or Mrazek and 700K.

They absolutely could have kept him. They had the room.

  13. Bill Zeto is a good GM who did get lucky. Florida was ginna clean house if Pittsburgh beats Chicago to make the playoffs in 2023. One game between unemployed and Stanley Cup caliber GM.

  14. That ESPN list was total bs. How the heck Marta far above Ronaldinho and R9? Kohli was there but no Tendulkar, Ponting and Sehwag?

LOL. Total clickbait bs by ESPN.

  15. If you understand playoff hockey, that Huberdeau Tkachuk deal was OBVIOUS for Florida. It was a blockbuster but soft guys don’t win in the playoffs.

  16. I just want to throw out there that Chuck Fletcher's incompetence might've saved the Flyers on that Gaudreau fumble. Johnny's contract isn't great now and is only going to get a lot worse. Also if they signed him then there is a good chance Flyers don't draft Michkov.

  17. I love how Bill Zito just did what Steve has been struggling to do for nearly 3 months since the Leafs have been eliminated from the Playoffs, in striking a good analogy to make the people terrified of losing a Marner trade understand that you can lose the trade on paper and still drastically improve the team composition, and Steve couldn't help himself but to make himself the star in the moment and prioritize his Lazer Eyes Bit, over getting the point across that has been eating him alive for months.

Oh Steven, we love you buddy.

  18. This ESPN list is a portrait of American exceptionalism. To have Schumacher and Zidane behind (what comes to any non-US citizen as) a random American football player is a joke.

  19. All of this talk about Byfield and Lafreniere, meanwhile Raymond has more points than both of them 🤭

  20. Tennessee is an awesome state so I get players heading there and if I wasn’t a leaf fan I’d have a hard time choosing between Nashville and Minnesota who are up there mostly cause I love the jersey

  21. At 33:00 imagine they almost had their skiing trip and they said they were so close to having their trip but if they run it back next year maybe it will work

  22. Fanatics are using the exact same Adidas jerseys for the upcoming season. Just adding their logo to it. 2025-26 they will apparently have their own version.

  23. I was looking over the full list from ESPN and there are more tennis players in the top 15 than there are hockey players on the entire list.
I also compared Crosby's entry at 22 to all of the other athletes ranked near him or higher. Under his achievements they omitted Sid's olympic medals and AllStar appearances, a statistic that they included for many other athletes (ie. Basketball players). If you're just going off of hardware, Sid and Patrick Mahomes are fairly comparable but Mahomes placed 4 spots higher on this list.
At the end of the day this list is fairly arbitrary and carries no real weight, but it makes me feel the author doesn't know squat about hockey or at least carries a huge bias

  24. I really think people don't remember the last NHLPA negotiations. They walked the kids to free agency faster and what happened is it forced teams to pay for potential. When players used to get paid for what they accomplished but again its the fault of the NHLPA. When they negotiated i don't think they saw this coming.

  25. Connor should be higher than 50th guys. 5 scoring titles, 3 mvps, and a playoff MVP. This Espn list is basketball biased imo, got Steve Nash with his 2 mvps at 51st

  26. I don't know what Adam is talking about with Don Maloney. I agree that it seems he's the one driving the fued between the flames and leafs now but Maloney wasn't hired as president until 2023, and Sutter got fired anyway. I think Sutter was kept on by Brad in 2022-23 because remember that Sutter won the Jack Adams after the 21-22 season. I don't think they should've kept him on because he was likely a reason for Tkachuk and Gaudreau wanting out but I think that was Brad.
