  1. no shot they make the playoffs. in fact they could use a nice top 5 pick in this coming years draft.

  2. Next summer will be a real good indicator of where this team is going to be built like. A possible major trade with the amount of draft picks the Flyers have and Frost and Cates being RFA's again and possible Farabee in a trade scenario.
Ristolainen needs to get dealt and if not possible buyout next summer. Flyers will have over 30m in cap space to work with. York will probably get around what Sanheim got or lower.
The TK situation is interesting, if the Flyers are having a horrible year do you deal him at the deadline? Do you extend him and for how much? is he worth more than 8m? I don't think so and I would probably only do 4-6 years for him. I just don't want him getting 9+m that we will regret (maybe I'm wrong or get proven wrong).
Flyers have quite a few young guys that could have potential; Barkey, Gendron, Luchanko, Andrae, Bonk, McDonald, Kolosov, Bjarnason. Some maybes that are still young like; Rizzo, Tuomaala, Desnoyers, Avon, Bump, Knuble, Berglund, Powell, Kaplan, Ruohonen, Pautov, Grans, Gill. And they will keep adding to it Next summer.
What I'm curious about is if Torts (going into his 3rd year of his 4 year contract) will he be around much longer and who will be the next coach? Would Laperriere make that jump? as he has coached or will have coached a lot these younger guys.
As for staying in a playoff hunt, yeah would be exciting. Hopefully more offense and better powerplay. But if bad I know the future can be promising, especially with a supposedly deep draft next year and having 6 picks in the first 2 rounds.

  3. Just another prime example of Tortorella lifting up a rebuilding team to the level it needs to be near, like Columbus and Rangers.

  4. The plan was for Kolosov to play in AHL this season after getting getting 2 games late last season. Now it appears he is bolting back to Minsk after not being guaranteed the backup spot behind Ersson

  5. you have to keep in mind with Ersson that most of the moments that he looked bad were after Hart got charged, especially late February – early March and on, when he played something like 18 or 19 out of 21 games. you also have to consider that he was a rookie, and if he gets something like 60% of the starts instead of 95%, he will most likely look better. he looked absolutely fantastic in a 1A 1B tandem with Hart. through december and january, the Flyers were getting some of the best goaltending in the league, and Ersson was a huge part of that.

  6. Still hoping Buffalo makes a run at trading for Farabee,a player they are rumored to be interested in.

  7. I think it's going to be tough. Carter Hart is out of circulation indefinitely. The goaltending at the end of the year was a problem.
Michkov can play and gives them a Svechnikov 20 goal 40 point first season, that would be good. They have to play him on one of the first two lines.
I think Ersson isn't the guy, yet anyway.
I think there are guys here who could improve the offense.
I like them better still than washington and the Islanders but both of those teams have better, in the case of the Islanders, much better goaltending.
They are better than Montreal. I think they fall back a little bit. Maybe still stay ahead of Buffalo, and fall behind Ottawa, New Jersey. Maybe finish ahead of Pittsburgh, Washington.
They have LTIR room with Ryan Ellis $6.25 million and the $5 million for Peterson in the minors for one more year.
They cleaned up a lot of things defensively last year.
Poor Couturier seems to be approaching the end early.
They gave up the second fewest shots against last year 27,1 SAPG just behind Carolina.
I think they score more this year, give up more goals against and probably tread water around 11th or 12th in the East.

  8. Hard to say but at this stage, I would have to say Philly is not getting in. RIght now, the "givens" to make it are the following (keep in mind some of the "givens" last year fell out): FLA, BOS, NYR, CAROLINA, DEVILS. Those 5 are in. Tampa and Toronto are good bets to get it in..too much talent and good goal tending to not make it. That leaves one spot for Philly, Islanders, Red Wings, Caps, Pittsburg and also assumes that teams like Montreal, Ottawa, Columbus and Buffalo are still rebuilding. For Philly, it's an uphill battel this coming year.

  9. Sabres fan here, as someone who has honed in on Joel Farabee as a perfect trade target for our top 6 for a plethora of reasons, I’m wondering what Flyers fans would like that return to look like? I would love to hear from everyone, thanks

  10. i’m a flyers fan and i think we just need to fully tank like trade all the older guys and get pick and prospects because right not i think we’re the worst team in the east

  11. If NJ plays the way they should, it will be very tough for Philly. Rangers and Devils should slot in top 3. Carolina, Philly and the Islanders will be fighting it out.

  12. I really enjoyed watching the Flyers when they were winning and losing prior to the end of year collapse. Whatchu talking about THG
