What?! This is very sad news. I’m a Sens fan in Canada. I have no reason for emotional attachment to Lil’ Joe. I’m indifferent to San Jose, and only like Dallas slightly more. But Pavelski was an elite player in this league for the better part of two decades. He was still playing really good hockey. I look forward to seeing him behind the bench some day. Surely he’ll get into coaching…. Right? I think he’ll be really good at that.
Edit: Also wanted to mention his importance to American hockey cannot be understated. An American player of his caliber playing in California that long, and then in Texas, surely inspired a lot of kids to play hockey.
