I'm by no means a Leafs or Domi fan, but he stopped what could have been a goal opportunity, he made an brilliant read for an offensive player to pinch down low in his own zone, completely separated the greatest goalscorer ever from the puck, got him spun around and to the ice. Not the most brutal or damaging hit ever, but a great hockey hit nonetheless.
What’s crazy to me is how this video is from 16 years ago, and Ovechkin is still playing in the NHL, and he has never played for an NHL team besides the Capitals. He’s a beast.
Ovi is both very skillful and can take a hit. I mean he gets hit hard by Domi, a man who doesn't care about your body or in this case Ovi's femur, and then he gets right back up like he only got farted on. Ovi has skill and has had the physicality Crosby never had and that is why I find Ovi the better player between the two.
