On today’s episode of Locked On Stars, Joey shares his Dallas Stars Lineup projection for opening night next season! This is part two after a lineup projection after free agency which included the addition of Matt Dumba, lya Lyubushkin, and Brendan Smith. However, Radek Faksa has been traded and Colin Blackwell has been added to the mix so its time for a revision. First up is the forward combinations, a lot are hoping for Wyatt Johnston to move up to the top line with Roope Hintz and Jason Robertson, but Joey has a different philosophy. He would like to see Logan Stankoven on the top line and keep Johnston with Jamie Benn, do you agree? The tough part is the defensive pairings, the Stars still return Miro Heiskanen and Thomas Harley, but the additions are nothing to jump up and down about. Joey explains the decision for having Dumba and Luybushkin in the top four and other possible outcomes for next season. In the final segment, Joey breaks down what he believes the split would be between both goalies Jake Oettinger and Casey DeSmith who assumes the backup role after the departure of Scott Wedgewood.

After knowing Lyubushkin’s stats with Reilly in Toronto, Im really excited to see if thats the plan and the way for Miro and this backend.
The top line needs a player who can take the space in front of the goalie, just like Joe before the last season.
Ben can be that person. He is strong and not afraid of battling physically.
Some of yall liked my comment prior episode on ideal line combos. Stank being on top line with everything else shifting around it for optimal gains might be this: (haven’t watched the vid yet)

The kiddos goes to the stop line. For all our money it be hard to argue against proof and belief exists enough for either stank or Johnston deserving of the top line. Frankly, I’d rather see Hintz at 2C and this :

Now they won’t do that of course. But if Robertson and Hintz remain the current versions of themselves which is a slight drop in offense production and a pick up in elite defensive acumen then should 1 carry that to the second line be better served for the team come playoff time?
I disagree with your take on contender status. They are that but yes a piece away from probably a top 3 favourite. I’d like to believe they’re jockeying for a top spot in the division come deadline and they make a play to get Adam Larsson or Rasmus Anderson here
people overreacting on the defense it is imo equal to what the stars had for majority of the year last year. not an elite group but its still fine and come tdl itll be improved again
