Who would be the captain, if not Lee?
Barzal? – maybe, maturity is coming around
Horvat? – newcomer, has the qualities of being a captain (work ethic, toughness, voice on bench)
Cizikas? – too late in his career, but I love how he leads by example (on the ice, at least)
Dobson? – too quiet, soft
Nelson? – last year as an Islander?
Pulock? – too quiet, not the leader type
Pelech? – not the leader type
Palmieri? – last year as an Islander
Pageau? – time is ticking on wearing and Islanders' jersey
Not sure who leads in the dressing room?
You mean our best player down the stretch and in the playoffs? Senile Lou isn’t trading the captain. Jgp,engvall, and lee were our best line in the playoffs .(while it lasted) lol Gil, we know the roster is already set. Duclair and another Russian question mark. Drive for 5!
lee should wear a 'T' for thief on the jersey for all the $$$'s he is stealing from isles not being worth the bang for the buck player. Make a trade with flames who are looking to dump kadri-maybe back to av's-looking to go full blown re-build with lotsa cap room to boot.
Eddie w., potvin, jethro, b. sutter, flatley, peca. Isles have had some great captains. pj judas-not so much. At least lee stayed when he could have fled pj judas style.
It’s unquestionably now time for Lee to pass the C on to someone else. There were rumblings about his unfitness for the past 2 seasons, but now it’s very clearly time for a change. Barzal is the most obvious successor – a career islander, our most skilled player, no longer a “kid,” has a lot of heart and emotion, and most importantly he’s honest about when he and the team come up short.
If he’s still on the team they shouldn’t, don’t make much sense to remove the captaincy from a player still on the team, all it will do is create a strife we don’t need
give it to horvat and quick tool this team if ur not gonna rebuild it but i think its pretty obvious who needs to stay and who needs to go and lee needs a change of location the island isnt it for bro he fell off after that lighting series and those injuries were the icing on the cake for the dude
If not Lee, Horvat would be a great leader and Captain thank you Gil, I also think Roy will play a role who’s Captain
If Lee isn’t the Captain this year it has to be Nelson in my opinion even if it’s only for one year.
He shouldn’t even be on the team

The honorable thing for Lee to do would be to step aside. If Barzy is ever gonna Don the C, this might be the best time.

Good 🌄, Gil, how are you? Should Anders Lee continue wearing The "C" or not? He's having an adventure of a time following in the footsteps of #18, Jethro, and Denny just to name a few. If he stays Captain, he'll need more 🧊 ⏲️. However, if he voluntarily surrenders his Captaincy, it depends on what Lou Lamoriello and Patrick Roy do. Westfall was the first Captain, then Gillies took over, but he was not comfortable the title, and Potvin wore the "C", and The Islanders won 4 Cups in succession. What team is interested to the point where they'll make Lou Lamoriello will make them an offer they can't refuse if they're interested in Oliver Wahlstrom. HAPPY 🎂, GERRY DEJARDIN an original Islander who after some in the WHA, He went on to Buffalo. Hear from you later, Gil, and LET'S GO ISLANDERS.

the c means nothing other than optics, anyone can speak out and lead in the locker room who wants to …to publicly strip lee from the captaincy is a slap in the face. lee is a leader, just won the king Clancy award, is majorly active in the community. he leads with grace and strength and is a great representative to the team. wow , they put the c on someone else's chest and they suddenly win, …my first locked on islanders thumbs down
Good morning team. Great topic, Gil. Here's my opinion about it. Lee is the captain of the team. I don't necessarily think it should have anything to do with his play versus being a leader of the team, on the ice. Even though his play has diminished some, I think he is still and excellent leader. Since Lee was awarded the "C" for his leadership, as long as he is still an Islander, the C should be his. If he wants to give up the C, I agree with the majority here. I think excellent candidates to be captain fall to Barzy or Horvat. Thanks for another great show! Everyone, have a great day! Hey Gil – I've said this before that if Lee was such a good leader how come Lou kept bringing in other team's captain's via trade with Parise, Chara, Greene and then Horvat. I think a guy who is only still on this team because of his lack of production isn't wanted plus his contract and his NTC. If Lou didn't give him all those things he'd be in either Calgary or Chicago by now. Look leadership isn't always about your production on ice but when he was voted into that role it was by a group of players who aren't even here anymore so I say let Patrick Roy name his Captain but my vote is for either Barzal or Horvat but it should be Czikas but he may not be here for long either.
Anders kept this train wreck afloat the last month and a half + playoffs. That is to be commended! It's not just on ice stuff. But he played hard in the corners and around the net. That's something this team doesn't have enough of. He kept them competing til the end. I don't see another captain on this team besides Horvat. I'd rather horvat concentrate on his job, not the rest of this group!

Hi Gil! Hope you and the family are well. I feel Bo should be the captain. He has all the earmarks of an Isles captain I feel. Lee? He’s a real good guy, a real solid career. He’s near the end. This Louless does not understand that when players are near the end—ya maximize what they have left and trade them. A contending team will desire him come the deadline. We know Louless wants all the Isles to play till the end. I was even surprised he let go of Aho—-he wants to keep them all like they won us “4 Cups”!! You’re correct Gil—-he should give up the C. I feel this season is about the kids. Dufor, and Maggio should make this team and next year we try again for a huge fish come free agency. Roll the dice with some kids——keep our picks—-$$$ will free up and go from there. However Gil—-the same way this should be Lee and company’s last year—-and we get rid of Louless acquisitions, well it has to be fitting, that this MUST BE LOULESS’s last year too!!! It would be irresponsible to allow this guy to make decisions come the draft and free agency. Let the kids play but geez—-get an enforcer will ya!!

I think Lee at the draft made it pretty clear he's the captain. Felt like a statement to me from the team.
Lee was voted in by his teammates. He would have to give it up because he won't be voted off. Maybe Roy stripes the C off Lee.
