I would add Peyton Krebs… and the rest of the roster to that list

Samuelsson not getting injured would definitely be the top of the list. Glad he’s on the 3. I think if Ruff still has it as coach this team has the talent to make noise in the playoffs if it gets there.

Interesting choices here. I can agree with Cozens, to an extent, but I disagree with Tuch and Samuelsson being on the list.

First, Tuch’s season was fine. I don’t think his season from 22/23 should be seen as the benchmark for his production. Or anyone for that matter.

Next, it seems illogical to expect Samuelsson to take a meaningful step forward. He’s shown he is a liability offensively, and I think his defensive strengths are overrated (largely due to the fact that he’s such a liability offensively). Even if he stays healthy, I don’t think he offers much to the team outside of a league average third pair.

For me, the guys who need to take huge steps in order for the Sabres to really make a move would be Quinn and Cozens.

For Quinn, it’s more a matter of health, which I think he can overcome. But he showed the flashes of elite offensive production last year and his defensive play was very strong in the anti-defensive system of 22/23.

And Cozens is the big one. I don’t expect his numbers to return to 22/23, but he frequently looked frustrated last year and sort of at a loss. I think having a structured system with accountability will go a long way for a guy like him and I hope this is the year that he becomes a dynamic two-way centre.

  4. I really want to see Power make a large jump in play
