Flyers Daily with Jason Myrtetus: Matvei Michkov is now Signed, Sealed and Delivered as he will be introduced today at 11am alongside GM Daniel Brière. We discuss the immediate and long term impact of Michkov’s arrival and talk about the adjustments on and off the ice he will navigate. Plus we also sit down with Flyers 2022 3rd Rd Pick Devin Kaplan. 1. I fear that all the expectations about Michkov and how much he means to the franchise give the boy significant leverage in terms of how lenient everyone can be with him. If the player won't behave well or ignore the coach's instructions, what can you do? Bench him? For how long? Meanwhile the Flyers are trying to build a standard, a culture where every piece of the puzzle is equally important. The same rules should apply to every player, and no one should feel privileged.

  2. Like so many other fans in Flyers Nation I was very happy to see him walking in the airport with Danny and Jonesey. It will be great to see him start skating with the guys in training camp and see the true talent this guy brings. I am also interested in seeing how Torts treats him if he struggles after the first month or so. Going into his first year Torts said “he is not going to hold these guys hands”. It will be fun once the season gets underway and I truly hope this kid is the real deal because the excitement the fans have now will increase big time. Go Flyers !!

  3. I didn't want Michkov here so soon, honestly. Now, expectations just went way up. Michkov has a LOT to learn. Culture shock, language barriers, and a new ice surface are all things it will take time for him to learn and get used to. This first season is going to be a LOT of ups and downs for the young man. We need to continue to remember to be patient. Patience is the key for our long term success. I don't want a Cup today, I want 5-6 Cups in the future.
